Back in the 80's, rumors flew that Donna hated gays and said the God was punishing gays. The community was pissed and there were protests of her and her music from the group,  ACT UP.

Hoping to mend the fences, Donna wrote a letter to the group.

ACT UP celebrates 25 years of Activism in Wall Street today

Today, ACT UP is celebrating their 25th anniversary by marching and protesting in Wall Street. Joined by the Occupy Wall Street movement, these two groups were pushing a Financial Speculation Tax that could support up to 15 million people by 2015, possibly ending the AIDS pandemic.

Several protesters were donned in Robin Hood costumes and chained themselves together, blocking traffic in the Wall Street area. While there has been arrests, no one has been harmed.

If you don't know about ACT UP, please take some to read about their movement and accomplishments. They are a great example of fierce activism.
