Are we getting a Female Doctor Who?

Lara Pulver could be the next Doctor
It started as a rumor, but now this could be true. The next Doctor could be a woman.

Here's the scoop:
The show’s bosses are planning to change the character’s gender after half a century, with Sherlock star Lara Pulver, 31, pictured, being tipped among the front runners for the role.

Insiders say a dramatic twist will see current Time Lord Matt Smith, 29, regenerate into a new female character when next year’s series reaches its dramatic climax.

“The 50th anniversary series will end with a very big twist,” we’re told. “The Doctor becoming a woman will give the show a new lease of life.”

If this is real, this will be great.

Doctor Who/Star Trek Crossover is coming in May

Two of Sci-Fi classics are crossing paths. The Doctor and the crew of the Enterprise are coming together in a new comic book.

Here's more:
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION2 will feature fan-favorite villains the Borg and the Cybermen as they create an unholy alliance resulting in potential disaster for all humanity. Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise find themselves joining forces with the Doctor and his companions, with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance.

"We are excited about this new adventure for the Doctor and the fact that he will be traveling with Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his iconic crew. This is a perfect partnership for not only Doctor Who’s incredible fans, but also for the brand.
This should be fun.

Helen Mirren wants to be Doctor Who

Famed actress Helen Mirren recently stated that she woulds like to be im Doctor Who. Not a companion, but the Doctor.
“I would like to play the new female Doctor Who. I don’t want to just be his sidekick.”
I'm in for that. What do you think Who-fans?

Long Lost Doctor Who Episodes were Found

Years ago, the 1960s episodes of Doctor Who were wiped from video tapes. Copies popped up, but only in foreign sales. But recently, some of the 'ancient' material has been found. 2 episodes have been discovered, Bleeding Cool has the story:
But first, which two episodes are they? Drum roll…Galaxy 4 part three and The Underwater Menace part two. Um, ye-e-e-es... Neither is likely to feature high on fan wish lists, but any find is a marvel after so many decades and each episode has its own merits (which I’ll come to later).
Part Three of the Season Three opener Galaxy Four, starring William Hartnell, and Part Two of Patrick Troughton’s third story, The Underwater Menace. The former had no surviving episodes, whereas the latter had its third episode, which was, until today, the earliest existing episode of Patrick Troughton.

These are not episodes that made anybody’s top ten list of wished for discoveries. But they are two extremely interesting finds that have the potential to tell us some really new and interesting things about the era they’re from. Indeed, for fans more interested in learning about the show in the 1960s than in reconstructing their own (or more often someone else’s) childhood, these are two of the best finds imaginable.
These episodes was screened at the British Film Institute’s Missing Believed Wiped event last night.

My Top 5 Actors who could be Doctor Who

Earlier this week, I talked about the 'Doctor Who' movie that's coming in a couple of years. The story would have a different Doctor and it wouldn't follow the series. But with that in mind, the real question is... Who will be Who?

Well, I have a few possibilities, 5 actually:

Robert Sheehen - He stole the show in Misfits and he could be a great Doctor someday.

Simon Pegg - He said he wouldn't do it on Twitter, but I think he would be fun to watch.

Chiwetel Ejiofor - He has the style and acting chops to pull it off.

Oliver Phelps and James Phelps - The twins won our hearts in HP. So I think either one of them could be the Doctor.

Naomie Harris - She can do anything and she could be a Time Lord.

A Doctor Who Film is in the Works

My partner is sooooo excited about this... A Doctor Who movie is coming with a few twists and surprises.

So far, "Harry Potter" director David Yates is working with the BBC on making this a full feature. They are looking for writers from all over and they are taking a few years to put it together. But one of the major twists in this story is continuity. The film won't follow the current series or the storyline.
Yates made clear that his movie adaptation would not follow on from the current TV series, but would take a completely fresh approach to the material.

"Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," he said.
Well, I don't know how fans will take that. Other versions of a DW movie were not that successful and if this strays too far from the DW we love and hold dear... Mr. Yates could be in some deep doo doo. I'll keep you posted on the drama.

Interesting Quote: John Barrowman

Doctor Who and Jack is an integral part to this story and, if I'm going to be a little self-absorbed, I would hope he would be involved, it would be a shame if he wasn't.
I don't think it's a question of whether I would like to come back as Captain Jack, I'd be very happy to do that any time. I know the fans would really like that. But it's a decision left up to the BBC and the drama department.
So like I've said to all the fans, you need to write to them if you want it to happen because I've never been asked. I know Russell [T Davies] thinks it might be a nice idea but who knows?"
John would like to be a part the Doctor Who 50th anniversary. I think he should.
