Lady Gaga Forced to Cancel show in Indonesia

Due to death threats from Islamist, Lady Gaga had to canceled her sold-out show in Indonesia. Over there, she is looked at as a very bad person who corrupts children and looks like a harlot.

Here's more:
The controversy was a blow to the predominantly Muslim country's reputation for combining free speech and democracy with a mostly moderate brand of the faith.

Fans were devastated, despite the promoter's offer of full refunds. Some accused police — who refused to issue a permit over concerns about security — of buckling to the will of a small group of thugs.

The planned "Born This Way Ball" concert has been on-again-off-again from the start.
But on Sunday, it was final, said Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for Big Daddy, the promoter of the June 3 show.

"It's unfortunate," he said. "But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."
This must be a terrible blow to her fans who has to deal with that madness on a regular basis.

Interesting Quote: Lady Gaga

"Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time. No press, no television, if my mom calls and says, 'Did you hear about...' I shut it all off."
I will co-signed on that

Lady Gaga wants to play Amy Winehouse in a Movie

This is interesting gossip or news. Word is Lady Gaga wants to play the trouble star in a bio-flick.

Here's more:

Producers in LA want to capitalize on that by coming out with a biopic as soon as possible – and they reportedly want Gaga for the part, who is just dying to give it a shot.

“Lady Gaga worshipped Amy and would love nothing more than to transform herself into her idol on the big screen,” says an unnamed but reportedly well-informed source.

“She’d be spot on performing Amy’s songs and has got the right look and bolshy attitude. Gaga’s been itching to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the ideal role to launch her film career,” adds the spy.

As per the report, Gaga has been drowning in movie offers for some time, but she’s been putting off producers because she wanted to wait for the perfect role. This is it, the spy claims.

“Gaga’s management team had been discussing possible film ventures before Amy’s untimely death. But there’s only ever been one role she wants and that’s to play Amy,” says the source.
I don't know about his one. What do y'all think?

Comic Book Legend Jim Lee Draws Lady Gaga

New York Magazine reached out to designers and artists to design a new look for Lady Gaga. 20 artists submitted their designs, including comic book fave Jim Lee.

“My goal was to showcase what made Lady Gaga so creatively dynamic—from her music to her costumes to her hair to her flair for theatrical performances—and interpret her as a thoroughly modern and contemporary superhero. Part otherworldly, part vixen, part Lady Darque, my take on Lady Gaga showcases the eclectic elements which define her talent and style.”
This reminds me of Witchblade mixed with Gaga. Cute, though.

Hot Rumor! Lady Gaga Ends the Target Deal

Not long ago, I talked about Lady Gaga working with Target. Well, it looks like that has fallen though.

Metro Weekly reports
Carmen Cacciatore, co-founder of Fly-Life marketing agency, announced this afternoon that the earlier reported deal between Target Corp. and Lady Gaga was dissolved this past week.
Bob Witeck of Witeck-Combs Communications was familiar with the dissolved deal, although he does not represent Gaga or any of the parties, and told Metro Weekly, "Despite the expectation that this was all unfolding as a deal, it has been in a sensitive stage of continued discussion for probably the last three weeks."

He added, "Quite a few people, even early on, were afraid it was going to dissolve."
In February, talking to Billboard about the deal, Gaga had said, "[O]ur relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those groups." Target had faced criticism in 2010 for donations the company made to groups supporting candidates who oppose LGBT equality.

Of today's announcement, Witeck said, "They wanted to make it public now. They decided it was important that people know there is no deal."
She tried and I think she could had made this work.

Lady Gaga has a Partnership with Target?

Did you know that Lady Gaga has a partnership with Target? Yes, Target, the company known for donating to anti-gay folks. Well, Gaga was aware of that and decided to challenge them on their practices.
In an exclusive interview with the music publication, Gaga reveals she wasn't comfortable with the Target partnership when it first came up as a possibility and that she met with "the entire executive staff" at the company.

"That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting," Gaga says. "Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past ... our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those [antigay] groups."
I have to admit, she has the star power. Do your thang, Gaga... Just make sure your other songs are better than 'Born This Way'.

Thank Hera! Not Every Gay LOVES 'Born This Way'

Just when I thought every gay has completely sold their soul to Lady Gaga, reality steps in.

Not everyone is feeling Gaga's overproduced 'Born This Way'. In fact, some think it's an insult. Check it out:

Some of the swipes were minor. Aaron Hicklin, the editor of Out (one of the earliest publications to put Gaga on the cover) was the first to break ranks. On Saturday, he took to his Facebook account and wrote a message saying, "Gaga shmaga." He urged friends to go out and buy the new Adele album instead.

On Monday—after Gaga performed the song at the Grammys with a troupe of scantily clad dancers while donning a ponytail reminiscent of early '90s Madonna—Andy Cohen, the Bravo host, wrote on his blog that he found her number "very Blond Ambition meets Express Yourself." This did not appear to be a compliment.

Eric Ord, an openly gay chap working in New York in commercial real estate, said, "I think she sees herself as the gay messiah and it bugs me." According to him, the song would be like "white people writing a song about breaking free from slavery and expecting black people to worship us for it." (To be fair, Lady Gaga has said she's attracted to both men and women.) And Aaron Newbill, a modeling agent, referred to an old quote where Gaga said she wrote the song in 10 minutes. "She should have taken at least 11," he said.

Even among Gaga's most reliable demographic—denizens of the gay club world—the reaction was far from uniformly positive. Jared Needle, who with his business partner Josh Wood is  the biggest gay party promoter in New York, said, "I find the lyrics cliché and the melody overly Madonna-esque. It seems pretty en vogue at the moment to pander to people's concerns about bullying. It's a good PR move because it's hard to hate a song that speaks to acceptance—unless that dialogue seems forced, inauthentic, and disingenuous. I sort of liked Gaga more when she sang about dancing as opposed to trying to be the voice of a generation."
Carl Bean, the man who actually did the original "Born This Way" had this to say:
Asked what he thought of Gaga's latest song, Bean was diplomatic. After a lengthy pause, he said "Uh, it's dance. I heard it. I can't really critique it. I don't like to judge other artists." He quickly added  he takes it as a "compliment" that Gaga did a song that is clearly, on some level, an homage to him.
My personal opinion: I don't like the song. It has no soul or meaning. It's too stylized, stereotypical (meaning standard pop-gay Kylie-ish) and a little empty. I like Lady Gaga, but this is not her best work.

Lady Gaga Comes to HBO

Lady Gaga landed a deal for a HBO concert. Here's more:

The network said Tuesday that it is taping two Lady Gaga shows in New York's Madison Square Garden later this month for a concert special. The document of Gaga's "Monster Ball" tour will be televised on May 7, two weeks before the singer is releasing a new disc.

The woman who choreographed most of Lady Gaga's videos, Lauriann Gibson, will direct the concert special.

HBO says that Lady Gaga, who was carried into the Grammys Sunday in a giant egg, will put on some brand new moves for the special. Gaga's latest album "The Fame Monster" won three Grammys.
I'll watch it to see what she does for 2 hours on stage.
