Dan Savage, Using 'House Faggot' is Not Okay

**I wrote this for Bilerico too**

Yesterday, GOProud announced their support for Mitt Romney. They put out a press release and took a couple pics to show their declaration. Well, after that announcement, Dan Savage Thumbnail image for savage_th.jpgwent on Twitter and tweeted his response.

He said: "The GOP's house faggots grab their ankles, right on cue."
Interesting quote to say the least. Dan was so upset that he just had to use the word "faggot" in his tweet.

Now, I know there are Dan fans that will say: "That's Dan," and "That's Dan style, he has always been that way." Okay, but it is still unacceptable. Dan's use of the F-word punches holes in his credibility. How are you going to tell millions of LGBT youth that the F-word is horrible and then turn around use towards another gay person?

I don't care if he was angry, it was still a stupid thing to say. And I'm a little bothered about how quiet the blogosphere is about this. If GOProud's co-founder Chris Barron had said the exact same thing, there would have been smoke in the city. In fact, the majority of the gay blogs would have made a mini-series out of the matter.
Dan should be held accountable for the using F-word. In fact, I would like to see GLAAD address the issue. They usually call out celebrities for using homophobic language in the media, so the least they can do is ask him for an apology. To ignore Dan's statement basically says that certain people have the right to use hateful statements. I'm sorry, but we can not allow that. No one should have pass to say the F-word.

If we want people to take our battle and cause seriously, we have to do the same. So I challenge us to hold Dan Savage accountable for his poor use of words. There was no excuse for it and we shouldn't try to provide one for him.

READ: GOProud's 2012 Un-Gay Agenda

The group that has no real purpose continues to their useless charge. Here is their agenda for the year.
1 – TAX REFORM – We support replacing the current tax code with the Fair Tax. The Fair Tax would treat everyone – gay or straight – equally. Until then, we support death tax repeal; domestic partner tax equity; cuts in the capital gains and corporate tax rates to jump start our economy and create jobs; a fairer, flatter and substantially simpler tax code.
2 – HEALTHCARE REFORM – Repeal of Obamacare; encourage free market healthcare reform. Allow for the purchase of insurance across state lines – expanding access to domestic partner benefits; emphasizing individual ownership of healthcare insurance – such a shift would prevent discriminatory practices by an employer or the government.
3 – SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM – The only way to permanent solvency in the Social Security system is through the creation of inheritable personal savings accounts. Personal savings accounts would give gay and lesbian couples the same opportunity to leave their accounts to their spouses as their straight counterparts.
4 – RESPECTING THE PROPER ROLE OF THE JUDICIARY – We believe our Constitution should be respected and that judges appointed to the federal bench should recognize the proper and appropriate role of the judiciary as laid out by our Founding Fathers.
5 – HOLDING THE LINE ON SPENDING – Standing up for all tax payers against wasteful and unnecessary spending to protect future generations from the mounting federal debt.
6 – FIGHTING GLOBAL EXTREMISTS – Standing strong against radical regimes that refuse to recognize the basic human rights of gays and lesbians, women and religious minorities.
7 – DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION – Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment. Marriage should be a question for the states. A federal constitutional amendment on marriage would be an unprecedented federal power grab from thestates.
8 – EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES – Protecting 2nd amendment rights. The answer to stopping bias motivated crime is not the Hate Crimes laws, instead we support empowering individuals to lawfully protect themselves.
9 – RESPECTING STATES RIGHTS – Supporting a strong 10th Amendment that limits the scope of the federal government and empowers states; repealing the federal Defense of Marriage Act and return power to regulate marriage and family law to the states.
10 – EDUCATION REFORM – The answer to the serious problem of bullying is not more federal intervention in education. Instead, we support empowering parents and families by supporting school choice initiatives and protecting the right of parents to homeschool their children.
Number 10 is a poo putt idea at best. That method hasn't worked in years.

GOProud believes that ANY GOP Presidential Candidate would be better than President Obama

GOProud must be living on Earth 2, because this press release is not realistic. For some odd ass reason, they believe ANY of the busted GOP presidential candidates would be better than President Obama.

Here's their Press Release:

After last night’s Republican Presidential debate in Florida, Christopher R. Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia, co-founders of GOProud – an organization of gay and straight Americans seeking to promote freedom by supporting free markets, limited government, and a respect for individual rights – released the following joint statement:

“After last night’s Republican debate one thing is clear: any one of the four remaining GOP Presidential candidates would be a dramatic improvement over the failed Presidency of Barack Obama. All Americans, gay and straight, are living in the disastrous Obama economy.

“In his State of the Union address this week, Obama had the chance to admit his failures and chart a new way forward for his administration. Sadly and predictably, instead of taking responsibility he chose to double down on his failed policies and fan the flames of class warfare.

“The truth is that most Americans, gay or straight, are not better off than they were in 2008.
“Each of the four remaining Republican Presidential candidates has put forward a vision for America that embraces, rather than demonizes, free enterprise. On the bread and butter issues that face gay and straight families – from healthcare to taxes to retirement security and personal freedom – all four of these candidates are head and shoulders above Barack Obama.

“Organizationally GOProud has not yet endorsed a candidate and each of the remaining candidates has supporters among our membership and leadership team.

“While we may not yet be united behind one candidate, we are united in one common purpose: to defeat Barack Obama.

“Make no mistake about it, when this primary process is over the conservative movement will unite behind the nominee. We look forward to being a part of the unified effort to make Barack Obama a one term President.”
Any of them? Santorum? Gingrich? No, GOProud, NO!

GOProud's Christopher Barron steps Down

I guess f**king with Rick Perry's people gets your ass kicked out, right? Today Chris steps down, here's some of the press release:
“My role in the day to day management of GOProud will continue as the organization’s Chief Strategist and I will remain on the Board as Chairman Emeritus,” continued Barron. “It is with great excitement that I announce that conservative coalition builder and former CPAC Director Lisa De Pasquale has been elected interim Chairman of the GOProud Board of Directors. Lisa brings a lifetime of experience within the conservative movement and is the perfect person to oversee the expansion and restructuring of GOProud’s Board, as well as to help in refining GOProud’s mission and to aid in building a bigger, better and stronger organization.”

“I am truly honored to be elected interim chairman of the GOProud board,” said De Pasquale. “The next several months will be important for their growth. Along with the GOProud staff, the Board will help refine the organization’s mission, develop a strategy for making Obama a one-term president, do substantive activities across the country, and build coalitions with conservative organizations, lawmakers and activists.”
“One of the first steps the new GOProud Board will be taking is to expand,” continued De Pasquale. “We will be inviting many of our Advisory Council members to join the Board of Directors. We need their support, their talents and their advice in a more formal capacity to continue to be able to build on the successes of the last two and a half years.”

“The day to day management of the organization will remain the same. The board has 100% faith in the leadership of Chris Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia,” concluded De Pasquale.
Now, I mentioned Rick Perry because of outing of his strategist, Tony Fabrizio. That's when everything start going awry. Andrew Brietbart quit and the Log Cabin Repubs start calling them out. I can't help but to think that drama caused Christopher to get the boot. What do you think?

Did GOProud just outed Rick Perry's Strategist?

Well this is juicy... GOProud's Ken doll reportedly outed Rick Perry's pollster and strategist, Tony Fabrizio through Twitter

So who is Mr. Tony? Back2Stonewall has the 411:

Tony Fabrizio of Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates in addition to serving as pollster and strategist for Senator Bob Dole’s 1996 presidential campaign has worked for more than a dozen GOP senators, more than 50 congressmens campaigns,  It was Fabrizio who destroyed Florida AG Bill McCollom for Rick Scott using the Arizona immigration enforcement law.
And Tony has worked for gay rights group as well. So if this is correct, we got another self-hating gay working for the crazy ass Right. I'm sure there is more to come of this story.

Ann Coulter is on the GOProud Advisory Board?

GOProud continues their bizarre existence by adding the mare humanoid, Ann Coulter to their advisory board.

They even made a press release about it:

Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Ann Coulter was joining the organization’s Advisory Council as Honorary Chair. Coulter’s official title will be “Honorary Chair and Gay Icon.” “Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”

“I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the Queen of Fabulous,” said Coulter.
 And they posted this clip

CPAC Tells GOProud "Don't Come Around Here No More"

GOProud got served their walking papers from CPAC. For some reason they always believed they have a home there. Well, they just got kicked out with no deposit:
The event, organized by the American Conservative Union, is one of the largest conferences for conservatives held anywhere in the United States each year.

But it had faced the loss of some participants over the past several years specifically because of its inclusion of GOProud. Some of the organizations whose leaders have raised concerns in recent years have included heavyweights such as the Heritage Foundation, Media Research Center, Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America.

But word of the change came today when WND obtained access to letters mailed to GOProud as well as the John Birch Society, which also was left on the chopping block by the new procedures that Al Cardenas, the chief of the organization, announced he would implement when he took over.

In a letter dated today and addressed to Jimmy LaSalvia at GOProud, Gregg Keller, national executive director for the ACU, said, "The American Conservative Union is preparing to open registration and announce sponsorship opportunities for our Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2012.

As a courtesy to your organization, a previous co-sponsor of CPAC, this letter serves to inform you GOProud will not be invited to participate in a formal role for CPAC events scheduled during the 2012 election cycle."

The letter noted that GOProud "members" are welcomed and encouraged to attend "as individual registrants."
See GOProud, they never liked y'all.

WATCH: CNN's Ali Velshi Calls Out GOProud's Chris Barron

Interesting Quote: Chris Barron

“If they are really that worried about Michele Bachmann, the best thing they can do is shut up. Because every time they go out and attack Michele Bachmann it makes her more popular among conservatives, not less popular.”
The Chairman of GOProud wants HRC to leave Michele Bachmann alone.

LISTEN to Michelangelo Signorile vs Christopher Barron

Lord, listen Christopher Barron lose his marbles in this interview with Michelangelo. I wish we could have seen this live.

Mike had this to say about the interview:
Chris Barron of the gay Republican group GoProud came on the show to talk about the CPAC conference and his group's participation, which initiated a boycott by some antigay groups and politicians. The audio of the interview, which was soon burning up Twitter because of his melt down,is below. Let me offer some context though. Barron has come on the show several times in he past. My program was among the first media outlets to give his group any attention when it first broke off from the Log Cabin Republicans. We've had spirited but respectful discussion, as we disagree on just about everything. He seemed to revel in it, enjoying the back and forth, and certainly was not as angry and defensive as he is in this interview.

Not only did GoProud always come on the show when asked -- either Jimmy LaSalvia or Barron would come on -- but they reached out to my producer to come on the show at other times when we did not ask and we declined, as it wasn't the best time or was not about something we were interested in. I say that because Barron outright lied in this interview, claiming that he often doesn't come on my show (implying I asked and he declined), supposedly because of the way I treat him. That's when I ended the interview. I'm not going to put up with a liar who had clearly become flustered because he was caught in a contradiction so now was changing the subject.

Go here to listen to the mad interview. Oh Chris, you need a hug.

GOProud, when are you going to FRAKKING get it! Conservatives Don't Like You!

This silly group continues to beg for the hater's attention. As some of you may know, CPAC 2011 is coming soon. And like last year, GOProud is trying to be a part of this hater parade. However, several groups wasn't happy with GOProud's presence in 2010.

Now some of them are boycotting CPAC 2011
"We've been very involved in CPAC for over a decade and have managed a couple of popular sessions. However, we will no longer be involved with CPAC because of the organization's financial mismanagement and movement away from conservative principles," said Tom McClusky, senior vice president for FRC Action.

"CWA has decided not to participate in part because of GOProud," CWA President Penny Nance told WND.

FRC and CWA join the American Principles Project, American Values, Capital Research Center, the Center for Military Readiness, Liberty Counsel, and the National Organization for Marriage in withdrawing from CPAC. In November, APP organized a boycott of CPAC over the participation of GOProud.
I don't get GOProud at all, these folks could care less about us and will do anything to crap on our rights. Yet, GOProud continues to cling to their side. Are these folks gluttons for punishment? This makes no sense at all, ya'll.

GOProud, get a clue... They are NOT into you!!
