Exit Polls in South Carolina

Here are the Exit Polls in South Carolina:
Sixty-four percent said the debates were an important factor for them; just 34 percent said they were not. Gingrich won standing ovations in both debates while Romney often struggled - and at one point received a smattering of boos for equivocating over how many years of his tax returns he would release.

Gingrich, who polls suggest overtook Romney in the final days before today's primary, is hoping for a victory that would keep Romney from locking up the nomination before the end of the month. A majority of voters - 53 percent - said they made up their mind about who to back within the last few days.

The exit poll data showed that South Carolina voters overwhelmingly cited the economy as the most important issue, with 61 percent citing it. (The economy was the top issue in Iowa and New Hampshire as well.)

It was followed by the federal budget deficit (23 percent), abortion (8 percent) and health care (4 percent).

Seventy-eight percent of voters in South Carolina, where the unemployment rate is 9.9 percent, said they are "very" worried about the nation's economy.
Honestly, judging by the exit polls Newt will fail in achieving these things.

Newt the Hut defends his Racist 'Poor Kids' Statement and the Crowd goes Wild- VIDEO

In last night's GOP debate, Newt Gingrich stood behind his most racist statement in his campaign. The sad thing about this was the applause he received from those idiots.

The way he confronted Juan was not cute. If that was me, this would have happen.

Yes, I might be poised, but there's some 'country' in my blood

In South Carolina: A Black Church Grills Newt the Hut

Newt took his 'Mojo' looking ass to one of major Black churches in South Carolina. While none of them will ever vote for Newt, they were nice enough to hear him out... And to call him out as well.
While the give and take between Gingrich and more than 50 people in the audience was largely respectful, some in the crowd had sharp questions for the former House Speaker. Many centered on Gingrich's remark last month that poor children as young as nine should work at least part time cleaning their schools in order to learn about work.

Gingrich said his comments were misconstrued.

"What I was saying was, in the poorest neighborhoods, if we can find a way to help young people earn some money, we might actually be able to keep the dropout rate down and give people an incentive to come to school," he said.

The explanation little satisfied some in the crowd, including a woman who said Gingrich's words came across "so negatively, like we're not doing everything for our young people."
Gingrich was also asked if he stood by his assertion that Obama is a "food stamp president", a line the Georgia Republican uses often during stump speeches. He responded with a simple, "Yes."
They were nice, trying to be good church folks. But I was there, he would've head more than an earful of issues and concerns.

New Poll: Newt and Mitt Tied in South Carolina?

A new poll from InsiderAdvantage Georgia shows Newt and Romney in a dead heat.

Here are the results so far:
Mitt Romney: 23 percent

Newt Gingrich: 21 percent

Rick Santorum: 14 percent

Ron Paul: 13 percent

Jon Huntsman: 7 percent

Rick Perry: 5 percent

Other: 2 percent

Undecided/No opinion: 15 percent

Conducted January 11 among 726 likely voters, for a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

Now here is the interesting breakdown:
"Romney and Gingrich are even among those who identify themselves as 'Republicans' in South Carolina. Among those who call themselves 'Independent', Paul leads at 29 percent, but Gingrich and Romney are not far behind.

"Men favor Gingrich, while women favor Romney.

Most of interest, Santorum preforms well among voters age 30-44, hold his own among women, but does poorly with male voters."

It's interesting to see that Santorum does well with women, considering his support for banning birth control and wanting to make Personhood legal. Very interesting.

Rick 'Jethro' Perry will NOT go to South Carolina

Defeat is not cute and Perry is seriously realizing this. Last night, Perry said he will go home to re-assess his campaign and he's not going to South Carolina.
Rick Perry's "re-assessing" phase will apparently last through the remainder of the week.
After his disappointing fifth place finish in the Iowa caucuses, the Texas governor has scrapped his entire campaign schedule and will return to Austin to ponder whether to forge ahead with his bid.

"We have been told to hold until we hear from Austin," said a Perry source in South Carolina, where the candidate was preparing to launch an aggressive statewide bus tour on Wednesday. "It looks like he is not coming this week. He has definitely canceled his plans."
He just needs to quit, end of story.

A Suicidal Veteran wanted to kill Obama

Michael Stephen Bowden was arrested for threatening to kill the president.

Here's the story:

Secret Service agents arrested a 77-year-old South Carolina man after he told a VA nurse that he wanted to shoot the president, according to an affidavit.

U.S. Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan confirmed Wednesday that Michael Stephen Bowden of Woodruff, SC, was arrested Nov. 18 for the threats against Barack Obama.

According to the affidavit, a nurse at the Veterans Administration clinic in Spartanburg, SC, told authorities that Bowden "had made threatening statements" directed at Obama during a routine check-up. During the exam, the nurse reported she asked him if he had had any suicidal thoughts, and he responded, "Yes, I would like to shoot the President, then myself."
Now some folks wanted to write this off as a old man just talking, but when they went to his home; things were a bit scary:
During a search of his home, agents found three semi-automatic handguns and a semi-automatic rifle near Bowden's bed, all of which were fully loaded and ready to fire. In another bedroom, agents found nine rifles, two shotguns and a handgun, as well as a loaded shotgun near the front door.
Wow... He will go under psychological evaluation and he can't leave South Carolina. I feel bad for his family, especially since it's the holidays.
