Over 500 Folks are Scared of Gay Sex in Torchwood

This is some bull mess. As Torchwood: Miracle Day continues, more folks complain about the gay sex scenes in the show:
More than 500 viewers complained directly to the broadcaster about ‘soft porn’ scenes in Thursday’s episode, which they said were ‘pointless’, irrelevant to the plot and out of place in a sci-fi show.

Dozens of fans vented their fury online and several have vowed to boycott the BBC1 show.

One viewer wrote online: ‘This show is meant to be a sci-fi show. I had to turn it off as my grandson, an avid sci-fi fan, was in the room.

'I am sure both myself and others are disgusted at last night’s show. Leave the gay scenes for the programmes more suited – not sci-fi.’
Another accused the BBC of turning the show into ‘gay porn’ and a third wrote: ‘The homosexual content is totally out of proportion and so we have decided not to watch anymore.’
Then don’t watch! And when did sci-fi mean, for straight people only? This is so silly. In any other shows, like True Blood, Entourage, Skins or whatever, no one complains about the sexual content in those series. So please, save it for a meteor shower. If gay sex scenes scare you, get over it. Gay sex happens even in sci-fi worlds.

Idiots Think Torchwood is Too Gay

This is so silly and stupid. Folks are complaining that Torchwood is too gay or has too much gay content. Really, folks?

Pink News states:
The corporation said on its website that its editorial guidelines state all sexual content should be “editorially justified and treated with appropriate sensitivity”, as well as being realistic.

The response adds: “Captain Jack Harkness is an established character in the series. The audience over the previous series of Torchwood have known him to be promiscuous and bi-sexual [sic] so we felt the content was justified in terms of the context and characters and would be within the expectations of regular viewers.

“We aim to depict relationships whether heterosexual or homosexual in an honest and realistic way. These scenes are not meant to cause offense.”
Folks need to get a clue. I don't hear anybody saying Entourage is too straight or have too much straight sex in it. Get the FRAK out of here!

Interesting Quote: John Barrowman

“This man has a passionate romance with this other man and — like everybody else does — the sex happens. It’s a wonderful lovemaking scene, and it’s not gratuitous. If I were a young man growing up and saw that on television, to know that there is romance out there for me, it might’ve made things — not that I had a difficult growing up — but in the ’70s and ’80s, it might’ve changed a lot of things earlier for me.”

BBC cuts Gay Sex Scene from Torchwood

Aw! Because we can't handle the truth, BBC axes a gay sex scene from Torchwood:
BBC bosses decided to cut the scene - which was set to feature bisexual Captain Jack Harkness (John) enjoying a rendezvous with a hunky barman, and due to be broadcast just 20 minutes after the 9pm watershed - as well as another gruesome part of the show because the channel feared a backlash from viewers.

A BBC spokesman told The Sun newspaper: 'The UK and US versions of Torchwood are slightly different. However, these differences do not change the story in any way and the strong storylines are first and foremost to the series.'

An insider revealed the scene was axed due to its 'graphic nature' and not because it involved homosexuality.

A source added: 'It wasn't that it was a gay scene that worried people, but just the fact it was such an explicit sex scene, full stop.
Hopefully, Starz will keep it on. I want to see!

Yes, there will be Man on Man Action in the New Torchwood

Many of us gay geeks feared that the new Torchwood would "straighten up" our Captain Jack. Well don't worry, there will be some gay sexual action happening for sure.

EW has the scoop:
According to the show’s cast and showrunner, the new series doesn’t hold back. “I knew they would be true to the show and not change drastically,” says star John Barrowman. “If it was watered down, I wouldn’t have done it. For those people who are our stanch fans, it’s going to have the heart and soul of Torchwood which we’ve always had, plus the energy and excitement of a show that’s bigger and better.”

As for his character’s love life, Barrowman says Capt. Jack “gets to have full-on boy-sex a couple of times. On those days going to work I’d wake up and Scott my partner would say, ‘What are you filming today?’ And I’d say, ‘Oh it’s going to be a tough day, I get to have sex with a 24 year old.’”
I knew Starz wouldn't disappoint, have you seen 'Spartacus'?

The Full Press Release of Torchwood: The New World

Hey, I finally got a hold of the full press release of Torchwood: New World.

Here we go:
Bill Pullman, Mekhi Phifer, Alexa Havins and Arlene Tur join John Barrowman and Eve Myles for new series as plot and character details exclusively revealed.

Los Angeles, U.S – January 7, 2011 – BBC Cymru Wales, BBC Worldwide and US premium entertainment network, Starz Entertainment, today announced new cast, plot and character details for the new series of hit BBC ONE hit drama Torchwood. This highly anticipated new series will have the title Torchwood: Miracle Day and will premiere this July.

ER and Lie To Me star Mekhi Phifer will play Rex Matheson, a C.I.A. operative who joins forces with Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper to fight a global conspiracy that reaches from Washington to Wales and the slums of Shanghai whilst Bill Pullman, best known for his big screen roles such as While You Were Sleeping and Independence Day will take on the role of Oswald Danes, a convicted child killer who survives his own execution to become the most infamous man on the planet.

Also making their Torchwood debuts are Alexa Havins as Esther Drummond, a deskbound C.I.A employee who dreams of active duty and who suddenly finds herself running alongside Jack, Gwen and Rex; and Arlene Tur as Dr Vera Juarez, a Washington D.C. surgeon, who ends up on the frontline of medical care on “Miracle Day” advising the government think-tanks on the best course of action for the world’s population.

The plot of Miracle Day is the most explosive Torchwood storyline yet. One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging — they get hurt and sick — but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four months’ time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?”, he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.

John Barrowman and Eve Myles will return in their roles as Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper respectively.

The 10-episode instalment has been written by a team led by Torchwood creator, Russell T Davies, and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Davies and BBC Worldwide Productions’ SVP Scripted, Julie Gardner, return as executive producers with BBC Worldwide Productions EVP Jane Tranter, and BBC Wales’ Bethan Jones. The series has been commissioned by Controller BBC Drama, Ben Stephenson, and Starz President and CEO, Chris Albrecht.

BBC Worldwide, having previously distributed Torchwood to territories such as Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, Israel, Russia and across Latin America will distribute the new series to broadcasters globally.

While previous series were based on location in Cardiff, Wales, this new instalment will feature locations in Wales, the US and around the world.

The series was originally commissioned and produced in 2006 by BBC Cymru Wales, with the latest high octane series, Torchwood: Children of Earth capturing UK audiences of more than 6 million.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

REX MATHESON (Mekhi Phifer)

He’s the golden boy. The embodiment of the American dream and has been all his life. Harvard education, Rex is destined for success and could make a fortune in Wall Street or Hollywood, but he chose the C.I.A. because he believes in justice and will fight for it. He can talk his way into anything, then charm his way out, fast. This may be just what he needs as he joins forces with Jack and Gwen to fight a global mystery behind “Miracle Day” that has them racing from one crisis to another, dodging assassins, blackmail, corruption and conspiracy, from Washington to Wales and the slums of Shanghai.

CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS (John Barrowman)

Jack looks like a hero. He’s handsome, witty and subversive with a killer smile. But there’s a reason for that glint in his eye. His dashing style hides a secret. Truth is Jack Harkness is immortal, the only one of his kind. He once ran the Torchwood Institute, a British organization dedicated to fighting the strange and bizarre. But Torchwood closed down, and Jack disappeared, to start yet another of his many new lives. When a new, epic danger affects the whole planet, Jack finds himself back at the center of events, fighting not just for his own life, but for everyone on Earth.

GWEN COOPER (Eve Myles)

Gwen once lived the ultimate double life – the funny, salty, earthy woman who loves home and family, combined with the tough, ruthless warrior, who loves the thrill of the fight. She was the heart and soul of an organization called Torchwood. She was a defender of the human race. But now she lives in seclusion, with her devoted husband Rhys and baby Anwen, knowing that one day trouble would come calling again. When events surrounding “Miracle Day” push Gwen to the limit, she’ll need to call on resources she never knew she had and make the most terrible decisions, on behalf of all mankind.

ESTHER DRUMMOND (Alexa Havins)

Esther is an innocent, in a world of assassins, liars and zealots. She got where she is with the C.I.A through diligence and application. Hard work keeps Esther focused but she still dreams of active duty as a field agent serving her country. The dream is going to happen faster than she thinks and in no time at all, Esther finds herself running alongside Jack, Gwen and Rex, living off the grid, gun in hand, fighting a global conspiracy against enemies ranging from big business to the state. It’s a tough, brutal, hard lifestyle where survival is hard won and life-changing choices have to be made.

OSWALD DANES (Bill Pullman)

Well-educated and a former school teacher, Oswald’s a convicted child killer, both guilty and unrepentant. But when Oswald survives his own execution, he’s given a whole new life. The most infamous man in the world, he becomes the most provocative figure in modern media. He’s a flare, reviled yet mesmerizing, whose very existence embodies how the world changed on “Miracle Day”.

DR. VERA JUAREZ (Arlene Tur)

An attending surgeon in Washington D.C., she’s smart, fast talking and hard working, Vera is on the frontline of medical care on “Miracle Day”. As the world crisis grows, Vera’s surgical and ER experience sees her recruited to advise on government think-tanks until she has to make a moral choice of enormous consequence. Sexy, confident and passionate, Vera’s life is soon inextricably tangled up with Rex’s.

Sounds good! Get Excited!

Mekhi Phifer joins Torchwood

This is kind of a cute news...  Mekhi Phifer joins the sexy cast of Torchwood.
Blastr reports:
The Lie to Me and 8 Mile veteran will join John Barrowman and Eve Myles in trying to defend the Earth and ensnare viewers for the fourth season of the Doctor Who spinoff.
Phifer will play CIA agent Rex Matheson, who's described as "a fast-tracked high flyer with a lethal sense of humor who starts to feel his mortality when his life is put in danger."
No word yet on whether Agent Matheson will be a potential love interest for Jack Harkness, but when you've got a pan-sexual time crusader as the lead, you never know.
This could be interesting, sexy and who knows.

Torchwood/Doctor Who Crossover May Happen

Ever wonder if Torchwood and Doctor Who will crossover again? Well of course, according to Russell T. Davies.

Here is an interview with IGN, pointing out the possibilities:

IGN: Now that Doctor Who has done its latest big reinvention with Matt Smith, do you think the two series have completely split off at this point, or do you think another crossover is possible?

Davies: Steven [Moffat] knows the plot of
The New World. As a courtesy, I sent him a synopsis and said, "Is that going to clash with anything you're doing?" We both have enough awareness of each other's worlds to avoid that. And I still executive produce The Sarah Jane Adventures in Britain. I'm still working on that, and that works in synch with Doctor Who. So we are still very much aware of each plans, without spoiling each other's news. We're very careful to make sure that we behave within the Doctor Who world, while still being completely free to tell our own stories.

IGN: I think the curiosity fans have is how Jack would react to this Doctor, since he had a specific relationship with the previous one.

Davies: Well, Steven said he'd love to see Jack in
Doctor Who. So if Steven says that, Steven will make it happen, I would think. That's not inside information, but I bet one day it will happen. I'd love to see it. It would be marvelous.
