Federal Appeals Court stated that DOMA Unconstitutionally denies federal benefits to Married Gay Couples
Another fantastic blow to DOMA! Today, a federal appeals court said that DOMA denies federal benefits to married gay couples and it's unconstitutional.
AP News writes:
In its unanimous ruling, the three-judge panel of the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston said the 1996 law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman discriminates against gay couples because it doesn't give them the same rights and privileges as heterosexual couples.
The court didn't rule on the law's other politically combustible provision, which said states without same-sex marriage cannot be forced to recognize gay unions performed in states where it's legal. It also wasn't asked to address whether gay couples have a constitutional right to marry.
And
Soon there won't be much left of this hateful law. I'm getting excited. The appeals court agreed with a lower court judge who ruled in 2010 that the law is unconstitutional because it interferes with the right of a state to define marriage and denies married gay couples federal benefits given to heterosexual married couples, including the ability to file joint tax returns.

Kansas Pastor explains Why the Government should Kill Gays
Seems like these southern/mid-western churches are losing it these days. After Curtis Knapp's rant was caught on tape, the media went into a frenzy.
CNN landed this sad interview with this man
This man is sad and possibly closeted If you want to express your feelings towards Curtis, here's the number (785) 336-6251. He needs to be told a thing or three.

This message was in support of Jennifer Tyrrell, the scout leader who was kicked out of the Boy Scouts of America because she is gay.

2 Men pleaded Guilty for the attack on Brandon White
New movement in the Brandon White assault. Two men pleaded guilty for attacking Brandon back in February.
GA Voice has the story:
Dorian Moragne, 19, and Dareal Demare Williams, 18, pleaded guilty today in Fulton County Superior Court in the brutal assault Brandon White, a black gay man, on Feb. 4 in the Pittsburgh community. Sentencing hearing will be held in July and the men face up to 15 and 20 years on each count.I'm glad to see this go forward and Brandon, possibly getting some closure.
During the hearing today before Fulton Superior Court Judge Bedford Jackson, prosecutor J. Gabriel Banks said the assault was instigated by another suspect, Christopher Cain, who alleged that the victim, White, 20, made a sexual advance toward him. Another suspect, Javaris Williams, was also allegedly involved in the attack that was videotaped and uploaded to a hip hop website.
"If this case were to go to trial the court would prove that the victim was walking to 'The Pink Store' with a friend to get something to eat. They passed these defendants [Moragne and Williams] and the codefendants. At some point … Mr. Cain believed Mr. White made a sexual advance against him. Mr. white has firmly said no he did not,” Banks said.
“The sexual advance toward Cain led to Cain being offended. Cain got upset as Mr. White exited the store and struck him from behind. These two defendants [Moragne and Williams] began to hit stomp and kick Mr. White," Banks added. Moragne was also identified as the person who threw a tire on White as he was on the ground trying to shield himself from the constant blows.
“It is important to note that was all being videotaped as they all said, 'No faggots in Jack City,” Banks said. “Clearly in the state's view this is a hate crime.”

NOM's Brian Brown is really for Battle, Dan Savage
Brian Brown has accepted Dan Savage challenge and took it to NOM's blog to talk about it
Dan -- I accept and will look forward to debating you at your dining room table. As I said in my challenge to you, anytime, any place. This will be crazy!
While I appreciate the invitation that you have extended to my wife, she will not be able to attend. She is a full-time mom with seven beautiful children and an eighth on the way.
I have no objection to Mark Oppenheimer from the New York Times covering the discussion, nor to you hiring your own video crew to film the event, provided that I am able to hire my own video crew to be sure there is no creative editing of the discussion.
Not that a New York Times reporter would slant the news, mind you!

Louis Farrakhan Responds to Obama and Gay Marriage
Since everybody has something to say about Obama's support of gay marriage, I guess Farrakhan was next in line. Black Blue Dog reports
“Males coming to males with lust in their hearts as they should to a female. Now don’t you dare say Farrakhan was preaching hate, he was ‘homophobic,’” he said. ”Our job is not to be hateful of the people. It is to call people to sanity.”Oh Louis... Watch him talk about the issue
Obama also mocks the Newsweek cover naming Obama “The first gay president.” Farrakhan then says “I never heard from Michelle,” claiming that Obama was being ridiculed by the liberal media and made into something that he is not. He then asks why politicians take an oath on the bible but then choose to disagree with its principles.
In Minnesota, a Gay Man was beaten by 9 others at a Party
Over the weekend, a gay man was beaten at a party in Duluth, Minnesota. Two men were arrested, but as least nine others were involved.
Duluth News Tribune reports:
Max Pelofske, 21, of Duluth, said he came to a party at the pit to offer his congratulations to a friend’s sister, who will graduate from Proctor High School in several days. The friend, Kelly Johnson, also 21, said she and Pelofske had been at the unsanctioned gathering of about 50 people, mostly current and former Proctor students, for about five minutes when a boy approached her and Pelofske.Max was bruised badly and don't want to leave his home. Later on, a rally took place for him
“He told me to look him in the eyes, and I was really confused because I’d never seen the guy before,” Pelofske told the News Tribune. “He asked me: ‘Are you gay?’ And I said, ‘Yes. Is that OK?’ ”
After that, Pelofske said he was struck in the head by a flying beer can, and a crowd of boys surrounded him, threw him to the ground and began punching and kicking him.
“I tried to get up, but I kept getting knocked back down,” said Pelofske, who described his alleged assailants as “all laughing and smiling.”
“They were trying to throw me into the fire,” he said.
Johnson said at least nine boys were involved in the attack.

Romney is a Wimp, He won't call out Trump for Birther statements
Mitt Romney proves he's a punk. During an interview, Mittens didn't denounce Dump Truck Trump's birther foolish. In fact, said this:
“You know, I don't agree with all the people who support me and my guess is they don't all agree with everything I believe in,” Romney said. “But I need to get 50.1% or more and I'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.”So, Mittens will dig at the bottom of the pickle jar for whatever, just as long as it helps him win. That really shows character, Romney.

Pastor Worley's Flock welcomed him with a Standing Ova
His church members are who we should worry about, here's why:

Glenn Danzig could have been Wolverine, said he would've been less Gay
Rock legend Glenn Danzig revealed some interesting info to LA Weekly recently. apparently, he was actually considered to play Wolverine in the first X-Men movie.
Early in the film's pre-production, you were in talks to play Wolverine in X-Men. How would you have played Logan/Wolverine differently than Hugh Jackman?
It wouldn't have been as gay. Actually, he wasn't the first choice. They hired Dougray Scott. He had a falling out with the director, and then they hired Hugh Jackman. I'm glad I didn't do it. It was terrible.Ooookay Glenn, I guess your tight leather pants and eye make-up made you look so butch. And to think I had a crush on him in high school.

43% of Black Gay Teens have Contemplated or Attempted Suicide
In staggering news, a new report reveals that many Black gay youth have attempted or thought about suicide.
Here's more
Preliminary results from a blockbuster survey of black gay youth, conducted by the National Strategy for Black Gay Youth in America, reveals that 43 percent of black gay youth have thought about or attempted suicide as a result of issues related to their sexual orientation.
Released by Youth Pride Services, the report is the first of three to be released this year.
According to the results, over half of those surveyed fear or have experienced family disownment as a result of coming out of the closet.
Hopefully, seeing more Black leaders come out in support of gay marriage will help in creating a different climate for our youth.
Other statistics:The survey respondents were asked to list items that would make life as a black gay youth more bearable; 90 percent listed “family acceptance,” making it the most popular item in the survey.
- 22 percent experienced mental abuse related to their sexual orientation
- 26 percent experienced anti-gay bullying
- 11 percent are HIV positive; 7 percent do not know their status
- 8 percent have been homeless due to their sexual orientation
- 9 percent have been sexually abused as a result of their sexual orientation
- 10 percent have been physically abused as a result of their sexual orientation

Looks like Alan Scott, the Original Green Lantern is DC Comics' latest Gay Character
A trusted comic site, Bleeding Cool, believes they know who the prominent gay DC Comics character is. They say it's Alan Scott, the Earth 2 version of the Green Lantern.
Here is the scoop from BC writer, Rich Johnston
I ran semi-sourced stories indicating that the character who DC Comics announced as being reintroduced to the New 52 DC Universe as a gay man, was Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern, who appeared in Earth 2 #1 briefly. If this is the case, then the hype was just hype. Alan Scott? I hope they have a good story if this is true.
Well, at Phoenix Comic Con, I had a much stronger source confirm to me that, yes, it is indeed Alan Scott. On that basis I feel confident in calling it. Keep your Earth 2 #1 in good nick, and start queuing up for Earth 2 #2… right about now.

Lady Gaga Forced to Cancel show in Indonesia
Due to death threats from Islamist, Lady Gaga had to canceled her sold-out show in Indonesia. Over there, she is looked at as a very bad person who corrupts children and looks like a harlot.
Here's more:
The controversy was a blow to the predominantly Muslim country's reputation for combining free speech and democracy with a mostly moderate brand of the faith.Fans were devastated, despite the promoter's offer of full refunds. Some accused police — who refused to issue a permit over concerns about security — of buckling to the will of a small group of thugs. The planned "Born This Way Ball" concert has been on-again-off-again from the start. But on Sunday, it was final, said Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for Big Daddy, the promoter of the June 3 show."It's unfortunate," he said. "But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."
This must be a terrible blow to her fans who has to deal with that madness on a regular basis.
Interesting Quotes: Robert G. Marshall
During a Tea Party meeting, this f**ker said:
"If sodomy is a civil right, do we have to protect it? Do we have to fund it? Do we have to teach it? Do we have to encourage it? Do we have to facilitate it? It is not a civil right."And...
"I led the charge. The assembly said no. That's what I would do in Washington. I wouldn't let a federal judge be an activist there. ... You saw me. I didn't let a state judge do it here. Did you ever see water fountains in Virginia that say heterosexuals only? I didn't. Did you ever see statements that all the homosexuals are going to ride on one bus and heterosexuals on the other? No.
It is an insult to suggest that the efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are in any way parallel to the efforts to do things that have been criminal for most of this nation's history."
And this best quote:
"The court says it is in certain limited circumstances. But you know what that behavior does? It cuts your life by about 20 years. It causes increased health problems. It doesn't serve the common good to promote this."source

Please Take the NoWedge 2012 Pledge
Black pastor and leaders have created a pledge that encourages Black people to not be a victim of NOM or any hate groups' tactics.
It's called NoWedge 2012... check it out after the jump
Thanks to Kandake CimCiptivan for pointing this out to me.
As Black voters begin to consider the upcoming election, it is paramount that all citizens be intentional, deliberate and unwavering in our commitment to democratic principles. The current election cycle is perilous because the Black vote has not been under as great assault in generations.
Organizers are using “divide and conquer” strategies that manipulate religious sensibilities, and Black and Hispanic cultural identities to make marriage equality a defining wedge issue. The strategy of mobilizing Black voters based on the single issue of marriage equality is designed to divert attention from the real needs of Black America.
Religion and Faith: There is a great diversity in Black America on the cultural and theological understanding of sexual orientation than the media or popular culture give credence (recent polls show that African Americans are equally divided on marriage equality). We acknowledge that it was President Obama’s faith, which guided his shift in embracing marriage equality. Our community has the ability to hold different positions and not demonize what is perceived to be the “other.” In light of this complexity Black America is compelled to embrace candidates with policy positions that are holistically beneficial for our community as a family.
Marriage in Black America: The real threat to marriage in Black America is not marriage equality. The real answer to promote and sustain Black families is educational opportunities, economic development, eliminating race-based profiling, and eliminating the disproportionate rate of incarceration among Black men.
Human Rights: Interlopers are counting on provoking African Americans and gay Americans battling to determine which group has suffered and or has been marginalized more. Importantly, this discourse has its place, however not to the point of distracting us from the realities that unify us.
Organizations such as the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) are using their political and financial resources to influence the Black community by staging Black faith leaders and spokespersons in a campaign to manipulate Black voters with little accountability to our community on the issues, which matter most to the life of Black America:State legislators have passed voting ID laws in swing states that are clearly targeted at minority and elderly voters; while other legislators are attempting to remap districts based on race to dilute minority voting power. Although the Department of Justice is conducting extensive investigations on the new anti-voting laws and practices across the country, these efforts face protracted legal battles. We must proactively register, mobilize and turn out the Black vote.
- The economy/unemployment (particularly among black men 18-24)
- Education and childcare
- Black men and the penal system
- Healthcare access and racial disparities
- The social disenfranchisement of black people
- Social security being maintained
- Voting rights
We stand together and say no to the wedge strategy, which seeks to both dismiss and divide us.
We acknowledge that we have more in common than that which divides us.NoWedge2012.com

Interesting Quote: David Hasselhoff
“I didn’t see The Avengers yet. I love Sam Jackson, but you know… my Nick Fury was the organic Nick Fury that was written and discussed with Stan Lee before anyone got in there to change it. Nick Fury was written to be tongue-in-cheek, and he had a cigar in his mouth, he was a tough guy — he was cool.”
.........
“Stan Lee said, ‘You’re the ultimate Nick Fury,' Avi Arad, when they bought it, said, ‘Don’t worry, you’re going to be the Nick Fury forever,’ and they lied. [Pause] But that happens to me all the time. That’s when you realize life isn’t fair.”

"For Colored Boys" reaches out to Gay Men of Color
I'm so excited about the new book "For Colored Boys," a collection of stories from many LGBT journalists, bloggers, activists, actors and writers of color. American broadcaster and author Keith Boykin has gathered the voices of these amazing people as a way to reach to many of our gay men of color.
Here's more:
The new book, For Colored Boys, addresses longstanding issues of sexual abuse, suicide, HIV/AIDS, racism, and homophobia in the African American and Latino communities, and more specifically among young gay men of color. The book tells stories of real people coming of age, coming out, dealing with religion and spirituality, seeking love and relationships, finding their own identity in or out of the LGBT community, and creating their own sense of political empowerment. Please check out the website and get the book. I truly hope these stories really motivate and inspire our community to be gay and proud.
This collection includes writers who are African American, Latino, Asian American, British, and Jamaican. Their ages span over five decades from young to old, and they represent all parts of the country and a wide cross-section of occupations, including students, published authors, recording artists, reality TV stars, military veterans, doctors, and lawyers.

L.A. Bar Bans Bachelorette Parties
The Abbey, one our popular gay bars in L.A., has put their disco boot down on wedding bells bliss. The top bar is banning Bachelorette parties.
Here's a statement from the owner, David Cooley:
Every Friday and Saturday night, we’re flooded with requests from straight girls in penis hats who want to ogle our gogos, dance with the gays and celebrate their pending nuptials. They are completely unaware that the people around them are legally prohibited from getting married. Over the past 22 years, The Abbey has been a place that accepts everyone, gay, straight, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and everything in between. We love our straight girlfriends and they are welcome here, just not for bachelorette parties. It has long been a policy at The Abbey to deny admission to groups in costume, including regalia.
Bachelorette parties had previously been allowed inside if they removed their costumes. The Abbey's Bachelorette Ban comes on the heels of a ban on Gay Marriage in North Carolina and a number of other states across the south. The Abbey encourages other gay-owned and operated establishments to institute their own bans as a sign of solidarity until Marriage is legal everywhere for everyone.I think it's fair. Why host a wedding parties for some, when you can't host for all?

New Poll: Most Blacks supports Gay Marriage
Moving forward
A new ABC News-Washington Post poll on Americans' attitudes toward marriage equality is out today, and according to the results, support for marriage equality among Americans has remained consistent at 53 percent. This is getting good.
But the number of African Americans who want to legalize same-sex marriage is even higher, and it seems to be on the rise. Fifty-nine percent of black respondents said that they want to legalize same-sex marriage, and 65 percent favor President Obama’s position on the issue. For the first time, the number of Americans who "strongly" support same-sex marriage (39 percent) also outweighs the number who "strongly" oppose it (32 percent).

In Detroit: A 7-year-old Hangs himself, Bullying could be Reason - WATCH
Here's more from Detroit's Free Press
The 7-year-old, whom the Free Press is not naming, had been depressed about being bullied by other kids at school and in his neighborhood, and about his parents' recent separation, the boy's mother told police, according to the report.I really don't have words for this... my heart goes out to the family.
"It's just a tragedy on so many levels," Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. said Thursday, calling the situation "unfathomable."
He said the department is investigating the child's death, but as of Thursday afternoon, it appeared the situation is "exactly as presented" -- a suicide.
The autopsy results were pending Thursday evening, according to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office.
Godbee said he was told that the child had expressed a desire to harm himself. The mother also told police her son was being counseled by the family's pastor to help him cope.
The Exorcist... TV Series?
This is not really cute, but, well... look out for The Exorcist the series.
Vulture reports:
Sean Durkin, the writer-director of last year’s excellent but criminally underseen Elizabeth Olsen thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene, is adapting the fiendish classic into a ten-episode television series, this time backed by Morgan Creek and produced by Roy Lee, the executive producer of films like The Departed and The Ring.Unlike the iconic 1973 film, Durkin’s version of The Exorcist follows the events leading up to a demonic possession and especially the after-effects of how a family copes with it: In short, not well (really, after you start seeing stuff like this, can you blame them?), and when medical and psychiatric explanations fail, the desperate family turns to the church, with Father Damien Karras finally brought in to attempt the exorcism.
The Exorcist TV series won't be formally shopped to networks for another two weeks, but executives are already calling seeking meetings to inquire about landing the Durkin update.Noooooo! Really? Just made this a TV movie and call it a day. In fact, use different characters and call it something else.

One Million Lonely Housewives goes after Comics Books
I knew DC and Marvel Comics' Gay initiative would get these tramps' attention. Seems like OMM are trying to attack the titans of comics over Northstar's wedding and DC Comics coming out story.
Here's some of their press release:
This is ridiculous! Why do adult gay men need comic superheroes as role models? They don't but do want to indoctrate impressionable young minds by placing these gay characters on pedestals in a positive light. These companies are heavily influencing our youth by using children's superheroes to desensitize and brainwash them in thinking that a gay lifestyle choice is normal and desirable. As Christians, we know that homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27).Ladies, you will fail trying to attack comic books. We geeks are some fierce bitches.
Unfortunately, children are now being exposed to homosexuality at an early age. Comic books would be one of the last places a parent would expect their child to be confronted with homosexual topics that are too complicated for them to understand. Children do not know what straight, homosexual, or coming out of the closet even means, but DC Comics and Marvel are using superheroes to confuse them on this topic to raise questions and awareness of an alternative lifestyle choice. These companies are prompting a premature discussion on sexual orientation.
Northstar's wedding will be the first same-sex wedding in the world of mainstream superhero comics, but not the first gay comic books character. Earlier this year One Million Moms emailed Toys 'R' Us concerning the "Life With Archie" No. 16 with two gay characters getting hitched. Toys 'R' Us had the audacity to display "Archie- Just Married" at the front of the store by the checkout counters.
TAKE ACTION
Please send DC Comics (Warner Bros. Entertainment Company) and Marvel (Disney) an email urging them to change and cancel all plans of homosexual superhero characters immediately. Ask them to do the right thing and reverse their decision to have sexual orientation displayed to readers.

Why some Black Pastors & Leaders are on the Wrong Side of Equality
After President Obama made his gay marriage announcement, it seemed that everyone looked to the black churches for their reaction. As some pastors shrugged it off and went about their business, several pastors and church leaders fell into the classic stereotypical trap.
According to CNN, Obama's gay marriage support was the topic of many sermons in black churches across the country. Many of them have stated they love the president but they can't support gays or gay marriage. Then some like Rev. Dr. Emmett Burns claim they are going to stay home and not vote all. In fact, he is encouraging his church to not vote for Obama because of his stance on gay marriage. While they think they are taking a stand in the name of the Lord, they are actually take the same position as the slave masters did over 400 hundred years ago.
They used the Bible to keep slavery going and even convinced slaves that being owned was God's plan. These church leaders really need to think about this attitude they have grown so comfortable having.
I feel like they have no idea about what's in the Bible or what Jesus was truly about. Their statements and brashness show nothing of peace or love. It presents nothing but discrimination and hate. Perhaps these pastors should read James 2:1 where it talks about discrimination or Proverbs 10:12 which states how hatred stirs up nothing but strife.
But this is not just from the pastors; this is also coming from many black people. Some of them are using statements like, "My faith doesn't agree with gay marriage," or "My faith thinks it's wrong." Then, when you confront them on it, they just simply say it's in the Bible; like that's some legal law.
Well, if they're going to quote the Bible, I would love for them to visit Deuteronomy for a while and tell me if they would still follow the Bible word for word. Because if they do, they also support being put to death for having dreams that are not Godly, stoning their smart-mouth kids or being damned for having one testicle.
Yes, this is their faith, from the good ole Bible.
Black pastors and leaders, you cannot continue to be on the wrong side of history about this, and you cannot mislead our people down a discriminatory path. The freedom to marry is not a threat to marriage or your faith. If that was the case, then you should question the validity of your faith.
While you all are holding on to these archaic views, black Americans are evolving. Within the past couple of years, black Americans have changed their views on gay marriage. ABC News/Washington Post poll shows 54 percent of African-Americans support President Obama's marriage equality stance.
We are also seeing several black leaders and celebrities come out in support for marriage equality as well. So what is your hold-up? Your faith? If you are a true believer, you know that Jesus wouldn't allow anyone to discriminate and exclude a group of people in his name.
So please, get it together and evolve from these outdated mythologies you've trapped yourself into.
Why is GI Joe: Retaliation Running Scared from the Theaters?
G.I. Joe: Retaliation was a part this summer's blockbuster track. Well, that has changed. The sequel to the Hasbro toy line has been pushed back to March of 2013.
Nine months away.
Now, the interesting thing is why they are doing this. All of the promos, trailers, and hype Paramount has been doing lately is a waste. Millions were just thrown away, but for what?
Here's an explanation from Bleeding Cool
Hasbro, Inc (NASDAQ:HAS – News),and Paramount Pictures, announced today that G.I. JOE: RETALIATION will now be released in 3D. The film, originally slated for release in June 2012, is scheduled to be released March 29, 2013.
“It is increasingly evident that 3D resonates with movie-goers globally and together with Paramount, we made the decision to bring fans an even more immersive entertainment experience,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s President and CEO.
“In 2012, we continue to have several strong motion picture and television entertainment backed properties that are selling well at retail and our entertainment strategy remains strong and on-track,” Goldner said. “Through our own Hasbro Studios for television and in partnership with several movie studios including Paramount, Universal, Sony and Relativity, we are creating entertainment experiences around many of our highly popular iconic brands. For the full year 2012, we continue to believe, absent the impact of foreign exchange, we will again grow revenues and earnings per share.”Notice how they are basically saying that it's all about the money... sad. Well, I don't buy this poppycock at all and here are my reasons:
- 3D is not on the rise as before. Folks are finding 3D ridic and overrated. Besides, if you are pushing a film a year later just to put in the 3D effects, then it must be bad.
- Battleship FAIL. Battleship is a Hasbro property and it failed big ass time. I think they feared another flop.
- The Avengers effect. Joss presented an action movie with a brain. G.I. Joe is an action movie with a brain on drugs.
- The studio knows it doesn't stand a chance against Men In Black or The Dark Knight Rises. So it's basically running away.
- Clash of the Titans effect. COTT made a lot of money, but folks regretted ever seeing. Then the sequel came out and the turnout was mediocre. So just like that, the sequel was quickly forgotten. The first G.I. Joe was also the same. It was painful to watch and once folks realized how bad it was, they never spoke of that mess again. I think they knew the sequel could've met the same fate. Perhaps, they will use this time to fix the whole film.
Actually, they need to drop G.I. Joe and make the JEM film.

Jim Parsons is Gay
I was really busy yesterday so I missed this bit of info. Jim Parsons, the star from the geek fave, "Big Bang Theory" has come out in a New York Times article.
Many have talked about Jim's sexuality in the past, but he kind of made it clear at the Golden Globes when he thanked his partner.
Here's more from NYT:
“The Normal Heart” resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said. As the production was ending last summer, he heard that the Roundabout Theater Company was considering a revival of “Harvey” — initially with John C. Reilly under consideration for Elwood — and last November the play’s director, Scott Ellis, asked him and Ms. Hecht to do a private reading of the work in Los Angeles.“Jim was solid in ‘The Normal Heart,’ ” Mr. Ellis said, “but his character didn’t really change in the journey of that play, so I wanted to see if Jim could take on a challenge and float a couple of feet off the ground, so to speak, in that magical way Elwood has. And in the reading he was just smart, smart, smart.”
This is good to see folks coming out and nation moving in the right direction. This has to continue.

Adam Lambert tops the Billboard Charts
Adam has made history by being the 1st openly gay singer to reach number one on the Billboard charts.
GLAAD has the scoop
Artists like Elton John and Ricky Martin would certainly rank as some of the best selling artists of all-time, but neither managed to crack the number one position after publicly coming out as gay. Lambert himself came out following his appearance on the 8th season of American Idol, where he took runner-up. Despite that second place finish at the time, Lambert quickly amassed a hugely loyal fanbase, which helped propel the sales of his latest release.Congrats to Adam for making this historic effort.
TRESPASSING, which was released on RCA Records/19 Recordings on May 15, was executive produced by Lambert and has been met with incredible critical reviews. Rolling Stone declares that Trespassing is “the great pop album everybody was hoping Adam Lambert would make” while New York Daily News exclaims, “it’s the sound of liberation achieved.” People Magazine raves that “Lambert stakes claim for the divos on his glamtastic second set” and USA Today proclaims that it is “the album that fans have been wanting from him.”

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett kills the Birther drama & Apologizes to Arizona
I guess someone woke up with a horse head in their bed. After making a big stink over Obama's birth certificate, Dummy of State Ken Bennett backs off his birther claim.
“If I embarrassed the state, I apologize but that certainly wasn’t my intent,” Bennett said in an interview with Phoenix radio station KTAR. “He’ll be on the ballot as long as he fills out the same paperwork and does the same things that everybody else has.”And those constituents are crazy, there is no need to cater to crazy. If Ken was smart, he would stop all together. He could end up in deeper mess.
Bennett said he still intends to keep asking Hawaii for verification that Obama’s birth certificate is authentic. But he said he only plans to use Hawaii’s answer as a way to satisfy demands from constituents who remain unconvinced Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States and so therefore eligible to be president.
