I used to love this song. It's kind of a one hit wonder, but it's still better than some stuff out today.

Judge Walker will leave the bench next year
Bittersweet news, gang. Judge Vaughn Walker, the man who ruled that Prop 8 was unconstitutional, is leaving the bench in February.
It will be sad to see him go, but at least he will leave on a high note.
In a press release from the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, Walker announced he plans step down as chief judge effective December 31 and that he notified President Barack Obama by letter today that he would leave the court in February.
District Judge James Ware will assume the post of chief judge of the Northern District on January 1. Upon leaving the federal bench, Walker plans to return to the private sector.
In his letter to the president, Walker wrote, "Concluding 21 years of judicial service, I leave the bench with the highest respect and regard for the federal judiciary, its judges and their staff and the essential role they fulfill in our constitutional system."

UPDATED A Rutgers Gay Student is Missing, presumed Dead from Suicide
This is going around work and the blogs today.
Tyler Clementi, a Rutgers University student, is missing and may have killed himself over stupid idea. His roommate secretly recorded him having sex with a guy and broadcast the video live.
Here's more:
Tyler Clementi, 18, of Ridgewood, is presumed dead after his car, cell phone and computer were found near the George Washington Bridge last week, law enforcement sources said. His wallet was found on the walkway adjacent to the New York-bound lanes. No body has been found.I hope Tyler is alive, maybe he ran away. I really hope that's the case.
Dharun Ravi, 18, of Plainsboro, and Molly Wei, 18, of Princeton, were charged with two counts each of invasion of privacy for setting up a camera in a dorm room on Sept. 19 and using it to view and transmit a live sex scene, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan.

Seth Walsh takes his life, due to Bullying in Middle School
13-year-old Seth Walsh died yesterday at the hospital. He was on life support for 9 days after he tried to hang himself from a tree at home.
The reason for this suicide is becoming too common... He was teased and bullied for being gay. And what hurts the most is the school (Jacobsen Middle School) didn't stop it or reach out to Seth, regardless of their anti-bullying program. Police investigators talked to many students, but they said there will be no charges for his death.
My heart goes out to his family and friends.
Here is a tribute to Seth

Cheers to the "It Gets Better" Project and F**K You, Lot Project!
Dan Savage (love him or hate him) started a great project called, It Gets Better. The overall goal is to help young LGBT kids understand that life gets better after high school.
See Here:
Well, so far it's working. Many gays have made their videos and submit them to IGB Youtube page. But you know haters are going to hate.
This asshole had to take it there and bring some unnecessary mess to this great idea.
Please watch this hateful vlog.
Whoever this cretin is also a part of this website called The Lot Project, based in Arizona (no surprise). If you like, leave this coward a message. He is an evil person to wish damnation on Billy! And the kicker is, he has the nerve to use God justify his reasons.
You are a hateful Son of a Bitch!!

"Billy Lucus, who hanged himself, obviously because he was gay, and unable to endure the guilt that the words of others prompted in him. This was indeed a tragedy, but not anywhere near the tragedy that Billy will discover in eternity when he faces the wrath of God upon rebellious and unrepentant sinners. Then, he will realize that his sin could not be atoned for by his own death, and he will realize that people like Dan Savage who encourage sin are deceivers. He will see them for what they are, the blind leading the blind. And he will realize that he has fallen into that ditch that the blind leading the blind inevitably fall into: that's eternal destruction and misery. Sadly, it's too late for Billy. For those who are viewing this video, however, their remains the opportunity of turning from sin to the obedience of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ."You hateful son of a jackal! How dare you! How dare you!

Death of the Sci-Fi begins here: All 6 Star Wars Re-released in 3D
A part of my heart just closed. Because of the stupid gimmick, known as Avatar, all of the Star Wars movies will be released in 3 Frakking D!
Big news on the 3D front.WHYYYYY!
Sources indicate that George Lucas is set on rereleasing the "Star Wars" franchise in new 3D conversions beginning in 2012. Although 3D versions have been rumored for some time, Lucas purportedly was waiting until there were enough screens available to make the release a sizable event.
Fox, which released all six original "Star Wars" films, also would release the 3D versions.
Episode I, "The Phantom Menace," would be first out of star-dock during early 2012. After that, each film would be released in order at the same time in consecutive years, depending on how well the first rerelease does.
Each conversion takes at least a year to complete, with Lucas overseeing the process to make sure each is as perfect as possible. He has said that the "Avatar" experience convinced him that "Star Wars" is ready for the state-of-the-art 3D treatment.
Starting with "Phantom Menace," Lucasfilm would use several higher-end conversion houses to work on the project. By late winter or early spring in 2012, the exhibition industry should have all the 3D screens anyone could want for such a release.

The site looks great and they are just getting started. Here's some stuff from their site: Who's funding them?
NOM board members and its project, the Ruth Institute, have deep ties to the Mormon Church, including: Former president Maggie Gallagher sits on the board of the Marriage Law Foundation, a Utah-based legal group with ties to both Mormons and a shadowy campaign committee used in Utah’s 2004 marriage amendment fight. William Duncan and Monte Stewart, the founders of the Marriage Law Foundation, are both Mormon. In fact Stewart was formerly a Mormon stake president in Atlanta, Georgia.
Stewart and Duncan previously co-chaired Utahns for a Better Tomorrow (UBT), a committee that supported the 2004 Utah amendment to ban same-sex marriage. Substantial donations were funneled to UBT through a shadowy nonprofit named Marriage Education Initiatives that was formed just two weeks before the election. A complaint was filed with the Utah Attorney General alleging malfeasance, but nothing ever came of the investigation.
While famous Mormon writer Orson Scott Card currently sits on the NOM board, he replaced Matthew Holland, a Mormon with familial links to the Church’s hierarchy. As a founding NOM board member, Holland “hails from a family with strong connections to leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: His father is LDS Apostle and former BYU President Jeffrey Holland.” For his part, Card has advocated that homosexuality be criminalized.
An academic advisor to the Ruth Institute, a NOM project, Lynn Wardle, has been deeply involved with the Mormon Church’s strategy to defeat same-sex marriage wherever it arises since that strategy’s beginnings in mid-90’s Hawaii.
NOM was closely tied to the coalition that supported California’s Prop. 8 – a campaign that was significantly funded and powered by the Mormon Church. Financially, NOM received at least $60,000 in high-dollar donations from Mormons during that 2008 campaign, as well as $10,000 from Mormon politician – and aspiring presidential candidate – Mitt Romney for NOM’s efforts around Prop. 8. In fact, Mormonsfor8 found Mormons donated over half of ProtectMarriage’s (Prop. 8) campaign funds. Mormonsfor8.com identified $16,483,037.24 from Mormons donating over $1,000 each to ProtectMarriage.com, 51% of the total funds raised.
NOM was so closely identified with the Mormon Church that several newspapers throughout the 2008 Prop. 8 fight referred to NOM as a “Mormon group.” The Grand Rapids Press, The Sacramento Bee, and the Contra Costa Times all referred to NOM as a “Mormon group” or a “New Jersey-based Mormon group” during that volatile campaign.
They have more info that is very interesting. Please check it out, here

This is the 25th Anniversary of She-Ra
This diva here, is one of the reasons I start creating superheroes and comic books. She-Ra, Princess of Power.
I remember seeing this picture and thinking... OMG, look at her!
I was so caught up in her, that I actually stole a She-Ra doll from Fred's Discount Store (I was a good thief at 10 years old). My sister also had a Catra doll and I secretly played with her from time to time. And when the cartoon came out, I was completely hooked and a fan for life. To this day, this theme song still excites me
Happy Anniversary, She-Ra.

Interesting Quote: President Obama
I've been here two years, guys. And one of the things that I just try to remember is that if we have accomplished 70 percent of what we committed to in the campaign, historic legislation, and we've got 30 percent of it undone — well, that's what the next two years is for, or maybe the next six.
Understandably, everybody has a great sense of urgency about these issues. But one of the things that I constantly want to counsel my friends is to keep the long view in mind. On social issues, something like "don't ask, don't tell." Here, I've got the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff both committed to changing the policy. That's a big deal.
Now, I am also the commander in chief of an armed forces that is in the midst of one war and wrapping up another one. So I don't think it's too much to ask, to say "Let's do this in an orderly way" — to ensure, by the way, that gays and lesbians who are serving honorably in our armed forces aren't subject to harassment and bullying and a whole bunch of other stuff once we implement the policy. I use that as an example because on each of these areas, even those where we did not get some grand legislative victory, we have made progress. We have moved in the right direction.
I agree.

Poll: Folks Don't know a lot about Religion
Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life revealed some interesting info about America's knowledge of religion.
3,412 folks were asked 32 questions about different religions and beliefs... These are some of the results:
- Atheists and agnostics scored highest, Jews and Mormons were close, while Protestants and Catholics came in at the end.
- The top-performing groups on the survey still came out ahead even when controlling for how much schooling they had completed.
- On questions about Christianity, Mormons scored the highest, with an average of about eight correct answers out of 12, followed by white evangelicals, with an average of just over seven correct answers.
- Jews, along with atheists and agnostics, knew the most about other faiths, such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism.
- Less than half of Americans know that the Dalai Lama is Buddhist, and less than four in 10 know that Vishnu and Shiva are part of Hinduism.
- While a majority know that public school teachers cannot lead classes in prayer, less than a quarter know that the U.S. Supreme Court has clearly stated that teachers can read from the Bible as an example of literature.
- Forty-five percent of Roman Catholics who participated in the study didn't know that, according to church teaching, the bread and wine used in Holy Communion is not just a symbol, but becomes the body and blood of Christ.
- More than half of Protestants could not identify Martin Luther as the person who inspired the Protestant Reformation.
Asher Brown takes his own life because of Bullying
Asher Brown shot himself in the head last week. His parents believed it was from the consistent bullying he received from school.
Brown, his family said, was "bullied to death" — picked on for his small size, his religion and because he did not wear designer clothes and shoes. Kids also accused him of being gay, some of them performing mock gay acts on him in his physical education class, his mother and stepfather said.
The 13-year-old's parents said they had complained about the bullying to Hamilton Middle School officials during the past 18 months, but claimed their concerns fell on deaf ears.David and Amy Truong said they made several visits to the school to complain about the harassment, and Amy Truong said she made numerous phone calls to the school that were never returned.
The school claims that there never been any reports from students or the Asher's parents.
On the day Asher killed himself, he left a note to his parents, saying he was gay. His family said they were fine with it.That statement infuriated the Truongs, who accused the school district of protecting the bullies and their parents."That's absolutely inaccurate — it's completely false," Amy Truong said. "I did not hallucinate phone calls to counselors and assistant principals. We have no reason to make this up. … It's like they're calling us liars."David Truong said, "We want justice. The people here need to be held responsible and to be stopped. It did happen. There are witnesses everywhere."
This madness has got to stop.

Looking Back - 1989: Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation
I can not tell y'all how Rhythm Nation owned my life in 1989-1990. I went to the concert, I spent my entire Social Security check of RN 1814 pins, buttons, posters and hats. My fashion was influenced by Janet and her dancers. And I think I became a social justice advocate after buying the CD.
Rhythm Nation was the SH#T! And there hasn't been anything like it (not even Gaga can touch it) in years!
With that said, I wanted to share some of the RN videos I watched over and over; trying to copy the dance moves and styles for school. So come with me on a journey to 1989.
The Knowledge - I love, love, love this song and video. I bought black Guess jeans because of this
Miss You Much - I had vest that I decorated like Janet's
Rhythm Nation - After months of watching this video, I finally learned the routine
Come Back to Me - I always loved this song, especially when I was crushing hard on a guy named JimBob.
Memories

Is there an Alien Ambassador for the U.N.?
Well, not really, but there where many who start to wonder. Word got that Malaysian astrophysicist Mazalan Othman was in the running to be the first AA to greet the Shi'ar and other extraterrestrials to earth.
Mazlan had this to say:
"It sounds really cool, but I have to deny it," Mazlan Othman said in an e-mail to The Guardian.Could be true, or it could be a cover up. Maybe we should check out Area 51.
Reports about a UN alien ambassador got started when the Sunday Times reported that Othman was in the running to be the first point of contact for alien visitors. Othman was reportedly set to appear at a Royal Society conference to say that extraterrestrial contact was more likely than ever, and that Earth needed a plan to deal with their arrival.
Othman, however, told The Guardian that she will instead be talking about "near-Earth objects" at the conference rather than close encounters of the little green men kind.

Interesting Quote: Roland S. Martin
Yet I also hope that when Long speaks, he does one of two things: If in his mind and heart he has done no wrong, he will launch a vigorous defense of his name and integrity and vow with every fiber in his body to fight the charges, even if that means spending every dime he has and not settle the lawsuits.
But if he is guilty of what is alleged, I pray that Long doesn't stand before his church as its spiritual father and continue the charade of saying "I didn't do it" and tear into his accusers. God, Long and those young men know what took place, and as someone who has listened to many of his sermons and read his books, Long has often talked about the need for Christians, especially men, to be accountable for their actions and confess their sins.
If guilty, and if he truly cares about his enormous flock, he will stand before them and admit to the error of his ways, and not put them through more pain and heartache. He is a charismatic pastor who has always been known to preach an uncompromising Word, unwilling to say what folks want to hear, but instead, what they need to hear.
Bishop Long, your congregation and the world don't want to hear excuses. They don't want ambiguity.
Roland believes Bishop Eddie Long should step down.

Are the Gay GOP trying to change the game?
I've been following up on this GOProud and gay GOP groups for several months and honestly, they are interesting mix. In several of their posts and articles, they talk about fighting for healthcare and jobs, not marriage and DADT.
See here:
Our agenda is unlike the agenda of any other gay organization. Instead of fighting to expand the federal government
through hate crimes laws or federal employment non-discrimination legislation, legislation that only impacts a sliver of gay people, we instead focus on issues like taxes, healthcare, retirement security, and the economy — we offer gay Americans pragmatic, common-sense conservative approaches to these issues that will improve their lives, as well as the lives of all Americans.
We believe strongly that the federal government doesn’t have all the answers to the challenges facing gay and lesbian families. Indeed, we believe that often the federal government is the problem — not the solution.Interesting... And for the Left side, marriage, ENDA and DADT are the main goals. But what battle is the winning one? What is the most appealing side?
I'm learning that many LGBT peeps are really concerned with healthcare, jobs, and the state of the economy. In fact, those concerns are taking top spots. And the scary thing is many are seeing the Gay Left as myopic, demonizing and overly critical of their own team.
I have to say this issue is intriguing, especially the way the media handles it. The Gay Left gets all the 'they attack their own' spin while The Gay Right gets the 'They helped make DADT unconstitutional' press.
I will be following this more, but I'd like to know what y'all think. Am I crazy for thinking this or is this a crazy possibility? Let me know.

The superhero's appearance hasn't been finalized, but an early sketch shows a Muslim boy who lost his legs in a landmine accident and later becomes the Silver Scorpion after discovering he has the power to control metal with his mind.
Sharad Devarajan, co-founder and CEO of Liquid Comics whose company is now turning the young people's ideas into pictures and a story line, said the goal is to release the first comic book — launching the disabled Muslim superhero — in early November in both Arabic and English.
Snyder says he was inspired by President Barack Obama's effort to reach out to the Muslim world in his January 2009 inaugural address. Last month, Snyder flew 12 disabled Americans to Damascus to meet their Syrian peers, and one of their main goals was to come up with ideas and story lines for the new superhero.
"The only limit was the imagination these kids had — the opportunity for a great story," said Snyder, a comic book collector who heads HBJ Investments LLC. "They helped create something by their combined talents, and that becomes a gift to the world."
Cheers for Liquid Comics for breaking the mold. Please check out their comics and their website.

Interesting Quote: Ann Coulter
Marriage “is not a civil right – you’re not black. Blacks must be looking at the gays saying, ‘Why can’t we be oppressed like that?’”
This is what she said during the GOProud's Homocon 2010 event.

Here's the scoop:

Here's the scoop:
Relaxing backstage at the Red Bull Theater in New York City, actor Keith Hamilton Cobb is adamant; “I never denied I was Gay,” he says.Hopefully, we will see him in more gay roles and in higher quality gay movies too.
Possibly best known for the super macho Tyr Anasazi on the sci-fi series ‘Andromeda’, Cobb was blase. “I mean I’m nearly fifty, never was linked with a woman. The few ‘red carpet’ affairs I attended were set up by the studio; an obvious set up. This can’t be a surprised.”
Cobb first came to attention when he appeared in ‘All My Children,” a day time soap-opera.

Secret Crush: Daniel Tosh
I really can't explain it, but I think Daniel Tosh is kinda hot.
I think because his sense of humor is sick and he looks like a fun guy. I don't know, he's just oddly cute. Here's one of the reasons why I'm attracted to him.
