"I'm actually not looking at the original. Even though De Palma's movie was one of the best movies ever made. It's completely iconic, and I'm proud to be able to be doing a retooling of it. We're kind of going off the book. It's darker and much more psychological. More Black Swan. You're really looking into her mind, and it really looks into the relationship of Margaret and Carrie. It's set in modern time, so it's a lot different."Chloe talks about the "Carrie" remake

Dan Savage Apologizes (Kind of) for his Speech at the Journalist Conference
Dan apologized on The Slog for his speech at the National High School Journalist Conference. However, he still stayed true to the message about Christianity.
Here's some of his statement:
I'm not guilty of saying anything that hasn't been said before and—yes—said much better. What is "bullshit" in this context but "upwards of a thousand lies" in modern American English? And while those slamming me most loudly for "pansy-assed" may be on the right, they are also in the right. I see their point and, again, I apologize for describing the walk-out as "pansy-assed." But they are wrong when they claim that I "attacked Christianity." There are untrue things in the Bible—and the Koran and the Book of Mormon and every other "sacred" text—and you don't have to take my word for it: just look at all the biblical "shoulds," "shall nots," and "abominations" that religious conservatives already choose to ignore. They know that not everything in the Bible is true. All Christians read the Bible selectively. Some read it hypocritically—and the hypocrites react very angrily when anyone has the nerve to point that out.

Rep. Barney Frank gives Obama an "A-" on LGBT issues, Supports Obama's stance on the Executive Order for Workplace Discrimination
Rep. Barney Frank had some good, but interesting things to say about the President's stance on LGBT issues.
Barney told The Hill:
"It's not a surprise," Frank said. "He hasn't yet said that he's for [gay] marriage, so that's a problem."
Frank was quick, however, to applaud Obama's overall record on gay issues, giving him an "A-minus" across the board. The Massachusetts liberal praised Obama's decision to quit any legal defense of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) – which defines marriage as exclusively between a man and a woman – and to repeal the Pentagon's long-standing "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy.Barney also said that he also supported President Obama's decision on the executive order for workplace discrimination.
Frank said the administration's adoption of new federal standards for gauging discrimination under DOMA is particularly good.
"He's been good [but] he hasn't been perfect," Frank said. "He just hasn't quite gotten to the marriage [issue]."
"The problem there, to be honest, is not so much gay and lesbian issues, but there's a lot of controversy about too many executive orders. … And so I think it's probably wise to wait on that," Frank said.
"I wrote that I'm for it, but in the context of the criticism on too many executive orders, I think it's reasonable to wait until next year."
Frank, who's retiring at the end of the year after 16 terms, is hoping Democrats will do well enough at the polls in November that that they can preclude an executive order and enact a bill instead.
"If we win the House and the Senate," he said, "I'd rather do it legislatively."

Today is the 20th Anniversary of the L.A. Riots
I live in South Central, very close to USC's campus (I have to due to my job) where some of the riots took place.
And while we have some issues from time to time, life is pretty calm here. It's hard to believe the riots took place right here 20 years ago. It's also hard to believe that issues like race and equality are still a problem.
People around here will tell you that the riots meant more than Rodney King, it was the symbol of inequality and injustice. Folks just had enough of the system and the Rodney King verdict was the final straw.
The message hit the country like a bomb, I think it was then South Central was clearly on the map. Now 20 years later, we move forward. But I wonder if we see something like the L.A. riots again.

Dan Savage pissed off some Christian Teens at the National High School Journalist Conference
Dan Savage served a sassy, but truthful dish at the National High School Journalist Conference in Seattle. Dan basically gave real talk about how Christians misuse the Bible for their own benefit. As he was talking, the Jesus kids got up and left. I guess if they were in same situation as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, they would fail. Anywho, see the drama for yourself.
Apparently, GOProud's human Ken doll was upset.
Apparently, GOProud's human Ken doll was upset.
"Dan Savage should apologize for his comments and should apologize to the high school students in attendance whom he called ‘pansy-asses,’” Jimmy LaSalvia told Fox. “It is ironic that someone whose claim to fame is fighting bullying would resort to bullying tactics in attacking high school students who were offended by his outrageous remarks.”Bitch, please. Nobody was attacked. What Dan said was a real and the truth... Wow, I'm siding with Dan Savage. Hell, should be freezing now. source

Dominic Dieter is an Asshole
GLAAD is going after this Ohio DJ for a dumbass statement about a young lesbian. During the Rover's Morning Glory show, Dominic talked about a letter written by a father of gay daughter.
He said:
"You should get one of your friends to screw your daughter straight."Really, Dominic, really? Was he drunk or something? As soon as this really got out to public, GLAAD quickly stepped in.
Aaron McQuade, GLAAD's director of news and field media, released the following statement: "It was appalling and dangerous for this show to tell a father that he should have one of his friends rape his daughter. That's essentially how Dieter responded to this listener, and this is no laughing matter in a world where people are too often the victims of violence and sexual assault based on their actual or perceived sexual orientation. And Dieter gave this vile advice to everyone who was listening, including educators, parents and children — sending the message that it's okay to physically or sexually abuse people who are perceived to be gay."Dominic needs to apologize to the victims of violence and sexual assault, then do a public apology to the father and his daughter.
Then stick his head in some horse manure.

The New Mutants may be heading to the Big Screen
It was only a matter of time before we would hear about The New Mutants movie. And that time is coming soon, according to Fox CEO Tom Rothman.
He told Steve from Collider this bit of info:
He told Steve from Collider this bit of info:
Steve: I know you guys have like The New Mutants and a lot of characters in the X-Men universe. Obviously you guys are moving forward on an X-Men sequel, you’re moving forward on Wolverine, do you envision New Mutants or some of these other characters as franchises that the door can be open to? It does seem to me that the superhero genre is bigger than it’s ever been, and you guys have some of the crown jewels. This could a mess or be the best thing ever. The New Mutants were always a great bunch, however if this movie happens, which mutant makes the cut? Karma and Magik better make the list.
Rothman: (smiles) Yes.
When can fans expect an announcement on some of these other properties? Before Comic-Con, after Comic-Con, at Comic-Con?
Rothman: In the summer.
Are you talking to filmmakers right now?
Rothman: Let me just say this. All I have to say is, I agree with you in your assessment of the potential in a lot of these characters.

Interesting Quote: Adam Lambert
“As a community, we’re a little bit resistant to a gay male pop star ourselves. It’s very easy for people to look at my origin, which is American Idol, and automatically assume that I’m a commercial sellout or a puppet or a flash in the pan. I don’t think I’m any of those things. There’s something weird there. We’re very eager to celebrate a strong female. But to celebrate a fellow gay man – it gets catty sometimes.”

Interesting Quote: Grant Morrison
“I got interested in the class element of Batman: He’s a rich man who beats up poor people. It’s quite a bizarre mission to go out at night dressed as a bat and punch the hell out of junkies. And then he goes home and lives in this mansion. There’s an aspirational quality to him—he’s an outlaw and he can buy anything. He has a new Batmobile every movie. He’s very plutonian in the sense that he’s wealthy and also in the sense that he’s sexually deviant. Gayness is built into Batman. I’m not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There’s just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he’s intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay. I think that’s why people like it. All these women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn’t care—he’s more interested in hanging out with the old guy and the kid.”
I knew it.

Mitt Romney supported Gays in Boy Scouts - WATCH
The story of the Boy Scouts and Jen Tyrrell has reached epic levels. Many folks have joined Jen to fight back the hate coming from the Boy Scouts. And guess who should be right by her side... Mitt Romney. In 1994, Mittens supported the notion that gays should be in the Boy Scouts. In this clip, he took a stand for gays when he ran for Senator. This clip is being pushed by GLAAD, who hopes corner Romney on his stance.

Tennessee State Rep. Jeremy Faison believes Poor Values, not Bullying, leads Teens to Suicide
If I could, I would mind wipe most folks in Tennessee. Dummy on a stick, State Rep. Jeremy Faison claimed that poor parenting and values causes teens to commit suicide. He also think that bullying has nothing to do with it.
He said:
His statement was quickly called out and many took to Twitter and other outlets to deal with Jeremy's silly ass.
After the heat hit him, Jeremy apologized:

He said:
“We can’t continue to legislate everything. We’ve had some horrible things happen in America and in our state, and there’s children that have actually committed suicide, but I will submit to you today that they did not commit suicide because of somebody bullying them. They committed suicide because they were not instilled the proper principles of where their self-esteem came from at home.”
His statement was quickly called out and many took to Twitter and other outlets to deal with Jeremy's silly ass.
After the heat hit him, Jeremy apologized:
"After reviewing my comments on the House Floor today, I regret what was a poor choice of words. My true intent was to protect children from becoming criminals. Suicide has touched my family, and I would never want a parent or family member to feel they were responsible for such an unimaginable tragedy."Whatever, you're still an asshole.

When Boy Toys go Bad..
Being a boy toy never seems to have real benefits in the end. Just look at Calvin Klein's ex sex slave Nick Gruber.
The ex-boy toy of fashion icon Calvin Klein was charged with hiding cocaine in his underwear after cops busted him for pummeling a pal early Tuesday at his West Village penthouse.I think he needs to go to a charm school
Nick Gruber, 22, a model and former gay porn star, was accused of bloodying New Jersey college student Calvin Swint, 20, during the 4:20 a.m. fisticuffs.
Gruber “did grab (Swint’s) genitals and did seem jealous of him,” a prosecutor said at Gruber’s criminal court arraignment Tuesday night.
Gruber asked Swint — who appears from his LinkedIn page to be an intern for New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg — “to go out in the hallway and, unprovoked, punched him in the face,” the prosecutor said.
Police took Gruber into custody after a doorman called them to his 666 Greenwich St. penthouse, where he was throwing a party. Gruber flailed his arms to avoid getting handcuffed, sources said, and was spotted shoving something in his pants. Cops later found a stash of suspected cocaine in his underwear, sources said.

ACT UP celebrates 25 years of Activism in Wall Street today
Today, ACT UP is celebrating their 25th anniversary by marching and protesting in Wall Street. Joined by the Occupy Wall Street movement, these two groups were pushing a Financial Speculation Tax that could support up to 15 million people by 2015, possibly ending the AIDS pandemic.
Several protesters were donned in Robin Hood costumes and chained themselves together, blocking traffic in the Wall Street area. While there has been arrests, no one has been harmed.
If you don't know about ACT UP, please take some to read about their movement and accomplishments. They are a great example of fierce activism.

Missouri creates their own "Don't Say Gay" Bill
Missouri has jumped on the crazy train and put a "Don't Say Gay' bill on the table.
HuffPo reports:
A group of 20 Republican state representatives introduced the so-called "don't say gay" bill last week to prevent the teaching of sexual orientation in public schools, with the exception of classes relating to human reproduction. The group includes some of the most powerful Republicans in the Missouri legislature -- House Speaker Steve Tilley (R-Perryville), Majority Leader Tim Jones (R-Eureka) and the chairs of the Rules and the Ways and Means committees. Tennessee legislators have been debating a similar proposal. There's nothing going on, idiot! Do they really believe that 'gay' is a four letter word? Wow these folks are stupid. I hope this falls out.
"When it comes to sexual orientation, that is a discussion that should be left for the most part up to the parents," House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Andrew Koenig (R-Winchester) told HuffPost. "It is a pretty political subject. I know there are a lot of parents that do not want the homosexual agenda taught in the schools."
Koenig said he has heard of what he called a "homosexual agenda" being taught in elementary school, but when questioned, said he did not know of specific incidents "off the top of my head."

Interesting Quote: Lynda Carter
Lynda on when she learned she was a gay icon:
It was about 15 years ago. During an interview a journalist said, “You’re such a gay icon!” and I said, “I am? That’s great!” I had no idea until that moment. But as far as being supportive of LGBT equality, I’ve always felt that it shouldn’t even be a question. It’s a matter of basic civil rights and I don’t understand how anyone can see it differently. I would love to ask some of these homophobic politicians and “religious” people to start talking about their sex lives. Let’s talk about what kinds of “deviant” things go on there. They really need to get over themselves. I mean, why does anyone care? I really don’t get it.

Sheriff Paul Babeu's Congressional Campaign falls apart
Sheriff Paul Babeu is really trying to get that congressional nod. But with his scandal, being gay and being as power hungry asshole, things ain't coming together so well.
New Times reports:
Contributions to congressional hopeful Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu barely trickled in during March, with the once-popular lawman pocketing a mere $6,700 in the wake of multiple scandals that have enveloped him, his agency and his campaign.Oh well, judging by his pic above, Paul could be in Men At Work or Bound In Public.
By comparison, Congressman Paul Gosar, who is also running for a seat in Arizona's Fourth Congressional District, raised $80,000 that same month.
Overall, Babeu raised $144,007 during the first three months of this year -- which represents a little more than half of the $263,000 he was able to raise in the last three months of 2011.
Gosar managed to pull in $115,000 during the first quarter of the year, and although he was out-raised by Babeu during the same time period, it is clear that the sheriff's campaign is losing momentum.

Christian Group Busted for Plotting a Cyber attack on Gay Blogs & Websites
My buddy, Alvin McEwen busted a secret Christian group plotting to destroy gay blogs and websites. This is what he reports:
Here are a few pieces
Yes, these bastards thought they were slick. However, once this went viral, Alvin reported the Facebook page and site was gone. See, like Jesus they came and went like a thief in the night.
Great job, Alvin! He always brings it.
This project is conducted by a secret Facebook group called Truth4Time. According to the creator of the group (whose name shall remain anonymous because he is not a public figure), Truth4Time is supposed to be a library of anti-gay articles, blogs, and other materials for its members to use in their fight against the supposed "gay agenda." Apparently the group has a large lists of documents which contains anti-gay information (i.e. propaganda) that members are invited to use. The founder says that the group is supposed to be a sort of a "behind the scenes support system for the religious right. He seems to think that he is on some type of divine mission. If that is the case, I seriously doubt that it is God who is dictating his marching orders.
