Dr. Michael L. Brown Believes Gay Activism Played a role in Lawrence King's Murder

This idiot has the nerve to blame gay activists for Lawrence King's death. Michael thinks we are at fault for encouraging kids to come out and be themselves:
Of course, there is only one real killer, Brandon McInerney, just 14 years old at the time of shooting. He confessed to killing Larry in cold blood in full view of his classmates. But there are others who are complicit in Larry's terribly tragic death, and rather than point the finger at a "homophobic" society, they should point it at themselves. I'm speaking of course of gay activists, who have made Larry into a martyr for the cause of gay activism when, in reality, he was more a victim of gay activism.
 And...

At the tender age of 10, Larry announced to his friends that he was gay, and by the time he was in middle school (having been left back in first grade), he was openly, flamboyantly gay, sometimes coming to school in high heels and girl's makeup, occasionally even wearing a dress. And despite his slight frame (he was just over five feet tall), he was not shy about his sexuality, often flirting with straight guys, chasing them down the hallway in his stilettos, telling them he loved them, and spreading rumors that he was dating them. According to Brandon's attorneys, Larry sexually harassed their client, provoking the murder -- which under any circumstances, is a totally unjustifiable, horrific and deplorable act.

What does all this have to do with gay activism? And how can I claim that gay activists are complicit in Larry's death? To start, there are plenty of unstable children in our schools today, just like Larry and Brandon, yet gay activists are encouraging kids to come out at young and younger ages. This is downright irresponsible.
What will these loons think of next? Michael, you are a totally bastard for this belief.

Family Research Council's Ads Target African-American Lawmakers in the Gay Marriage Debate

Rep. Earline Parmon

The FRC uses race baiting ads in their latest attempt to stop gay marriage:
The Family Research Council, a conservative political action group from Washington, DC, is running ads on local radio targeting seven African-American Democrat lawmakers as they consider whether to vote for a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage.

One of those ads is aimed at Rep. Earline Parmon, a Democrat who voted in support of the 2008 Marriage Amendment. She said on Friday she plans to vote against the current proposed amendment, a shift in position she attributes to the political climate.“Alert. Marriage is at risk in our state. Our laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman could be overturned. Call Earline Parmon ask them to vote yes to the marriage amendment," the ad says.

Parmon said Republicans are using the issue of gay marriage to get conservative voters to turn out for the 2012 presidential election. She said she still believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

The Family Research Council didn't explain how it chose what lawmakers to target in the ads, but Wake Forest University political scientist John Dinan said he isn’t surprised the group has focused on black legislators.
Hopefully, the equality groups can stop this from getting worse.

Suspect arrested in Death of Marcellus Andrews

The cops in Waterloo, Iowa have arrested a suspect in the murder of Marcellus Andrews:

Officers arrested Paris Akeem Anding, 19, of 310 Crescent Place, Thursday on charges of second-degree murder. He was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Anding was also arrested on a separate warrant for aggravated assault in an unrelated case. Bond for that charge was set at $10,000.
Police and paramedics were called to a fight in the 200 block of Cottage Street at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 19 and found 19-year-old Marcellus Richard Andrews on the ground.
This is far from over

Interesting Quote: John Barrowman

Doctor Who and Jack is an integral part to this story and, if I'm going to be a little self-absorbed, I would hope he would be involved, it would be a shame if he wasn't.
I don't think it's a question of whether I would like to come back as Captain Jack, I'd be very happy to do that any time. I know the fans would really like that. But it's a decision left up to the BBC and the drama department.
So like I've said to all the fans, you need to write to them if you want it to happen because I've never been asked. I know Russell [T Davies] thinks it might be a nice idea but who knows?"
John would like to be a part the Doctor Who 50th anniversary. I think he should.

New Poll: Young Evangelicals are Divided on Gay Marriage

The young folks are alright... Maybe. A new poll shows that young evangelicals are more open to gay marriage:
The poll, released in late August by the Washington-based Public Religion Research Institute, found that nearly half (44 percent) of young evangelicals between the ages of 18 to 29 favor allowing gays and lesbians to marry.

By contrast, the white evangelical community as a whole (even counting those relatively liberal young adults) is solidly opposed to same-sex marriage, by slightly more than 80 percent.

More broadly, the poll found “at least a 20-point generation gap between millennials (age 18-29) and seniors (65 and over) on every public policy measure in the survey concerning rights for gay and lesbian people.”

The poll also found that a slight majority of all Catholics (52 percent) favor same-sex marriage, despite the energetic teaching of their church to the contrary.
Interesting, right?

Sci-Fi Writer's Homophobic Twist to Hamlet

Sci-Fi writer Orson Scott Card continues his homophobic mess by rewriting Hamlet and making his father a gay pedophile. Yes, seriously.

Hymned by the publisher Subterranean Press as a "revelatory" retelling which shows "what's really going on" in Shakespeare's play, the story suggests Hamlet's father wasn't murdered by his brother Claudius, but Horatio, in revenge for being molested by him as a child.

The book is not a new release, having been published twice before, for the first time in 2008, but an explosive review at the Rain Taxi Review of Books has unleashed a wave of criticism.

"Here's the punch line: Old King Hamlet was an inadequate king because he was gay, an evil person because he was gay, and, ultimately, a demonic and ghostly father of lies who convinces young Hamlet to exact imaginary revenge on innocent people," writes William Alexander. "The old king was actually murdered by Horatio, in revenge for molesting him as a young boy – along with Laertes, and Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern, thereby turning all of them gay … Hamlet is damned for all the needless death he inflicts, and Dead Gay Dad will now do gay things to him for the rest of eternity: 'Welcome to Hell, my beautiful son. At last we'll be together as I always longed for us to be.'"
Why, Orson? Why are you doing this? You are definitely going in the Hall of Shame for this.

GOP Debate ignored Gay Marriage

I noticed something last night during the GOP Debate. No, not the number times they used the words "Obamacare" or "Monstrosity" in the overall discussion, the number of times they talked about gay marriage or gay issues... None.

Question of the Day

Are you going to try Schweddy Balls?
I am

Why are they still Trying to make Friday the 13th part 2?

They won't let this idea die!! Word on the street is we may see a "Found Footage" version a F13 sequel. Here's the mess:

Last we heard, a sequel penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift had not yet been given the green light. Needless to say, I was surprised to hear that a follow-up was possibly being re-tooled to match the "found footage" fad that horror has been latching onto, especially after Apollo 18's dismal box office performance. (Time will soon tell if audiences will respond to Paranormal Activity 3 and if the "found footage" sub-genre has legs.)

Brad Fuller at Platinum Dunes assured us today, however, that there is still no movement on any sort on sequel to Dunes' 2009 production. He would not confirm or deny the company was fielding ideas from other writers. "There's no other place I'd rather be than Crystal Lake right now," he told us.

One has to remember that, beyond Platinum Dunes, a few entities need to agree to another Friday the 13th, including Paramount, New Line and Sean Cunningham. Until they align and the studios give a green light, don't expect a sequel.

Most good-minded Horror fans don't want this. Please let this die in peace.

Thinking about Billy Preston... The 5th Beatle and a Talented Gay Man of Color

I was watching "Unsung" a few days ago and was floored by the story of Billy Preston. He was very talented and known as the 5th Beatle in music world.

He was also 'family', but the mix of his religious upbringing and personal issues caused Billy to have a hard adult life. He used drugs and alcohol to ease the pain for many years; and that abuse finally took a toll on his life.

He always had a happy face and you felt his spirit in his music. I hate that I just got to know about him, but I'm glad that I did.

Here is a video of one of his beloved songs. I really enjoyed this performance (and I'm an Atheist)

Ghana's Attorney General Stands Up for Gays and Lesbians

Ghana's AG Martin Amidu boldly announced that gays should not be criminalized:
"It is illegal to invade the privacy of two rightful-thinking adults to obtain evidence for prosecution purpose," Amidu said.
In a rather candid manner, the A-G intimated that when it comes to whether or not homosexuality should be legalized, his view is that, it is improbable that it will ever happen in his generation. That, however, he said, does not wish away the position of the law currently and the difficulty in its application.

The Minister was responding to questions in respect of the work of his ministry at a Meet-the-Press encounter in Accra last week. Updating journalists on the progress made towards the passage of the Right to Information Bill, he indicated that the Bill is in Parliament and hoped that it will be taken into consideration soon.
Finally, there's someone with some sense up in there.

In Arizona: The State must Provide Sex-Same Health Benefits

My former homestate is redeeming itself... Kind of. The courts in the 'grand state' tells them to keep their same sex benefits, for now. Here's more info:

Arizona must continue to provide health-care benefits to the partners of gay and lesbian government workers, at least for the time being.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld an injunction that blocked a 2009 state law from taking effect. That law would have eliminated health-insurance coverage for the same-sex partners of state workers.

In issuing its ruling Tuesday, the appellate court ruled that denying the benefits would violate the equal protection provisions of the U.S. Constitution.

“Today’s decision by the Ninth Circuit means Arizona’s lesbian and gay state employees will not suddenly find themselves without vital family health coverage,” said Tara Borelli, a staff attorney with Lambda Legal, a New York-based advocacy group that filed the lawsuit on behalf of seven state employees. “Our clients are simply seeking equal pay for equal work.”
This is good.

What Happened During the Prop 8 Hearing Today?

This morning, the California Supreme Court heard both sides of the Prop 8 case. A lot was said, so I will give y'all a couple of links to read for yourselves. But I do have a quick wrap quote up from AFER Board President Chad Griffin and Ted Olson:
“This morning’s hearing before the California Supreme Court marks a seminal moment in our Plaintiffs’ case. Today, we have moved one important step closer to marriage equality for all gay and lesbian couples across California. Proposition 8 is hanging by a thread and soon the historic federal court decision that ruled Prop. 8 unconstitutional will be realized.”

AFER-associated attorney arguing on behalf of plaintiffs in Perry v. Schwarzenegger Ted Olson had this to say about today's hearing:

“There is ample authority that individuals do not have a right to defend a law unless they would suffer a direct and immediate harm from its invalidation. The proponents of Proposition 8 will not suffer any harm from a decision that grants gay and lesbian Californians their fundamental civil right to marry. It is the Attorney General who has the exclusive authority to make litigation decisions on behalf of the State, and here the Attorney General has made the sound decision that the discriminatory provisions of Proposition 8 do not warrant defense on appeal. Proponents cannot second-guess that exercise of discretion.”

The CA Supreme Court justices now have 90 days to deliver a verdict.
 More to come.

Supporters & Activists will hold “No Standing for Prop 8” sit-in Today

As the Prop 8 hearing jumps off in the California Supreme Court, supporters will hold a sit-in to protest the anti-gay measure:

“You can’t keep litigating a lawsuit just because you don’t like something – you actually have to be harmed in some way. The simple fact of the matter is that the freedom to marry brings enormous benefit to same-sex couples while harming no one else’s marriage. Accordingly, those who oppose equality have no standing to continue the suit,” said John Lewis, Marriage Equality USA’s Legal Director.

“Same-sex couples and their families will once again stand up for their love and dignity by attending the hearing and staging a ‘No Standing for Prop 8’ sit-in beforehand. Lesbian and gay people have been more than patient in their struggle simply to be treated fairly and equally. The time for full equality is now,” said Billy Bradford of Marriage Equality USA.
The hearing starts at 10am.

Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign manager Ed Rollins Steps Down

Trouble in Crazytown. Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign manager Ed Rollins decides to leave the game and take a lesser role. But there's more:
On the heels of our report that Michele Bachmann campaign manager Ed Rollins is stepping back into an advisory role, citing health concerns, comes word that his deputy, David Polyansky, is leaving the campaign.

"I wish Michele nothing but the best, and anyone who underestimates her as a candidate does so at their own peril," Polyansky told POLITICO.

But a GOP source familiar with the situation said that Polyansky had "strategic differences on the path forward" with the candidate, who has struggled to gain traction in the last few weeks.

Polyansky and Rollins led the team that brought Bachmann to her Ames Straw Poll win in Iowa, along with a handful of others like veteran pollster Ed Goaes. It wasn't immediately clear who was taking over the top two day-to-day slots.
They believe Ricky is stealing her thunder. But I think the old guard of the GOP will keep him at bay for now.

VIDEO: President Obama rallies Union Supporters

The APA has some words for Rick Santorum

Last week at Penn State, Rick Santorum was spouting off about gay marriage and how the APA (American Psychological Association) made things up to support their beliefs.

Well, it wasn't a good move because the APA had something to say:

He also dismissed the American Psychological Association’s research on homosexuality. “All these associations prove is that they have a point of view and the people who join them, they agree with that point of view,” he said. “The American Psychological Association is not proof of anything.”

In response to Santorum, APA spokeswoman Kim Mills told TIME, “The American Psychological Association’s position in support of same-sex marriage is based on a body of empirical research concerning sexual orientation and marriage. APA believes that it is unfair and discriminatory to deny same-sex couples legal access to civil marriage and all its attendant benefits, rights and privileges.” The APA’s amicus brief for California’s Proposition 8 suit cited nearly 90 medical, pediatric, and psychological studies supporting this position and argued that children of same-sex couples will benefit if their parents are allowed to marry.
He must enjoy being called out for his stupidity.

LGBT equality activists showered the booth from a skilift shouting: "where's our booth?" and "equality for all" in reference to the strange appearance of the anti-gay booth despite the exclusion of a pro-equality booth on the fairgrounds.

"As LGBT people are excluded from basic rights like marriage, the voices of marriage equality activists in Minnesota were excluded from having a booth at the Minnesota state fair," said participant Joanna Hirvela, "but we will not be silenced. Wherever there is bigotry, let there be glitter."

Southern Missionary Baptist Church, stop Playing the Fool!

Southern Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles are the main leaders against the LGBT Education Bill, SB48. Their goal is to gather 504,760 signatures by October. So far, they are nowhere near that goal. But what they are achieving is a lot negative views.

Their alliance with the haters and bigots have started up the old rift between the African-American community and the LGBT community. I'm highly disappointed in this church because this battle is the only battle they're pulling all the gimmicks for. Our neighborhoods in South LA need money and support, and they put all of their resources in a hate battle?

It's an embarrassment to see this church get so caught up in a battle based on misinformation and lies. It proves that fools fall for anything; and I'm tired of my people being the fool every time. So Southern Missionary Baptist Church, get out of this hate battle and remember your real mission of promoting love and unity.

The Log Cabin Republicans' President will support Anti-Gay GOP Candidates

Just when I think people couldn't be anymore stupid, Rob Schlein gives me something new. The LCR President writes this foolish piece that clearly defines his self-hatred

Here is an example:
For those who are upset at Rick Perry’s decision to sign the National Organization of Marriage’s pledge to move forward on an amendment to the Constitution, I say I’m willing to pay that price — a danger, in my view, that is as exaggerated as the reported threat of Hurricane Irene — in exchange for fiscal conservatism that is more likely to win the day and return us to prosperity.
After all, the process for amending the Constitution of the United States is so burdensome and so difficult, it seems to me the pledge to NOM is as empty as most men’s promises to stay monogamous until “death do us part.”

That said, I don’t believe that Rick Perry is our party’s best hope to beat Obama.

In the swing states that really matter — Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania — Mitt Romney, who has never been a great friend of Log Cabin’s, polls better. He’s one of them, and his dad was a very, very popular Michigan governor.

And if Jon Huntsman can organize some support he would be a brilliant choice, too.
But, we don’t get to decide in isolation who our nominee will be. By the time the candidates reach Texas, we will likely have our winner.

And, if that winner is Rick Perry, he can count on my vote and my vocal support.
Rob, please realize how frakked up this is. These people would make us suffer and you would still vote for them?

Are you that daft and self-hating?

Ugandan Health Minister Christine Ondoa Thinks the Power of Prayer cures AIDS

In the box of crazy ass beliefs, here's a new one for you. Ugandan Health Minister Christine Ondoa thinks prayer cures AIDS and saves our demonic souls:
Along with her role as a medical professional, Christine Ondoa also serves as pastor in the Life Line Ministries of apostle Julius Peter Oyet, one of the most powerful clerics leading Uganda's ongoing crusade against gay rights.

Julius Oyet's Life Line Ministries runs a Uganda branch of an international faith healing ministry under Wagner apostle Cal Pierce, head of the International Association of Healing Rooms. Cal Pierce's Healing Room Ministries lists almost 400 healing room branches in cities and towns across the United States, and well over 1,000 internationally.

Since her appointment as Health Ministry head, Ondoa has promoted the claim, an established tenet of Peter Wagner's apostolic movement, also advanced by Oyet's Life Line Ministries, that HIV/AIDS can be cured through prayer. According to a story published September 2008 in the Uganda Daily Monitor, "Unverified faith healing is posing a threat to adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) by persons living with HIV/Aids."
Girl please, there is no power of prayer and how does she have a job like this?

Cheyenne Jackson is a Married Man

Cheyenne Jackson married his longtime partner, Monte Lapka yesterday. Congrats!

Interesting Quote: Matthew Vadum

Why are left-wing activist groups so keen on registering the poor to vote?

Because they know the poor can be counted on to vote themselves more benefits by electing redistributionist politicians. Welfare recipients are particularly open to demagoguery and bribery.

Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals. It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country -- which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote.
So it's un-American to help the poor?
